Tom and Christina Hammond, with 16-month-old Garrett, invite you to visit Hammond Transmissions in Collinsville.
The youngest of nine children, Tom Hammond grew up around transmissions. “I was born into the business,” he said. “My dad and my two brothers did transmission work.”
On January 2, 2008, Tom realized his dream of having his own shop when he opened Hammond Transmissions at 719 W. Main Street in Collinsville with his wife, Christina.
“It’s all he’s done for more than 20 years,” said Christina. “It was his lifelong dream to open his own transmission shop.” Christina handles all the phone calls, appointment scheduling and billing. “If it’s not under the hood, I take care of it,” she said.
Tom and Christina’s number-one priority is customer service. Work estimates offer inclusive pricing for parts and labor. “Pricing includes tax. There are no hidden fees or charges,” said Christina. “If Tom discovers an additional necessary repair while he’s working on your vehicle, we’ll call first and let you decide about the additional repair and expense.”
Tom is an ASE certified automatic transmission specialist. He works on foreign and domestic vehicles, both 4x4 and front-wheel drive. “We use the latest computerized technology,” said Christina. “We offer rebuilds and service for transmissions. We take what you’ve got and rebuild it.” Typical rebuilds take three days. Additional time is necessary if they can’t get the parts from the Tulsa metropolitan area.
“The more expensive transmissions are on diesel trucks. The bigger trucks that do hauling require more expensive parts and repairs,” said Christina.
Feel free to come by and get your free estimate on transmission repairs. They offer service for all makes and models. “It’s best to come in for an estimate,” said Tom. “It’s hard to do the quote over the phone for accurate pricing. I need to see what I’ve got to work with and exactly which parts will be required for the repair.”
Hammond Transmissions stands behind its work, and satisfaction is guaranteed. “We warranty all of our transmission work with a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty,” said Christina.
Hammond Transmissions offers a wide range of auto repair services beyond transmissions as well. “We started out doing transmissions only. Customers came in looking for other services, and we didn’t want to push them away,” said Christina.
The shop uses a computerized scanner that gets connected to your vehicle. This scanner supplies codes for recommended repairs. “If it’s got bolts and the scanner can tell me what’s going on, I can fix it,” said Tom.
Hammond Transmissions is the only transmission shop in Collinsville, but customers come from other towns for transmission repair. “We’ve had customers come from Drumright, Bristow, Oologah, Talala, south Tulsa and Owasso,” said Christina. “Customers have tried the rest, but they want the best!”
“Mechanics from other shops call for advice from Tom on transmission repairs,” said Christina. “He has more than 20 years experience in the business, and area mechanics know he’s one of the best.”
Hammond Transmissions is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. For more information, check out their website at
