The American Heritage Music Festival’s headliner for the Saturday night Grand Finale show June 8 is Jim Paul Blair starring in the award-winning show, Buddy Holly and The Legends of Rock ‘N Roll, with a 9-piece cast of all-star musicians and vocalists from the Green Country area. The Saturday night show starts at 7 p.m. with a $1,000 Round Robin Playoff of the top three fiddlers in the Grand Lake National Fiddle Contest. The three-day Festival dates are June 6, 7 & 8, starting with a kick-off party Thursday night, June 6 at Sniders Camp with great entertainment including Prairie Breeze String Band, Festival Fiddlers, Coleman Sisters, World Champion Barry “Bones” Patton and Jana Jae, plus other talented musicians and fun contests. Entertainment at Snider’s Camp is free. Festival chef, Dr. John’s BBQ is cooking up some great food, bring your lawn chairs & appetite and enjoy a fun evening on Grand Lake O’ Cherokees.
June 7 & 8, Friday and Saturday, events will be in the Grove Civic Center at 18th & Main in Grove, Oklahoma. On Friday, doors open at 8 a.m. for registration for the Picking Contests; Flatpicking, Dobro, Mandolin, Banjo. Other contests on Friday include Take Me Back To Tulsa, Twin Fiddle, Hot Fiddle and Jukebox. All Friday events have cash prizes for the winners! World Champion bones player, Barry Patton & Jana Jae, the Coleman Sisters and new this year, the Vogt Sisters will perform Friday afternoon. This duo touches hearts everywhere they go, blending timeless music with sweet sister harmony. Also new this year, the Friday evening concert features the 145th Army Concert Band at 7 p.m. This acclaimed Oklahoma Army Band celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2018. The public is invited to enjoy this performance, and admission is free. A delicious dinner by Dr. John’s BBQ is served starting at 5 p.m. After the Army Band Concert, Bo Posey, Junior Marriott, Justin Branum, Tanner Marriott, and Splinter Middleton light up the stage with great dance music. Bo Posey’s smooth vocals and fiddle playing show his love for bringing great music to his audience. Wear your dancing shoes and enjoy an evening of dancing to this great Western Swing Band.
Saturday is a full day of contests and great entertainment. Civic Center doors open at 8 a.m. for the Grand Lake National Fiddle Contest registrations—ages from Pee Wee to 90 years will compete for monetary awards. Spectators will try to pick who the top winners will be, excitement building to the Top 3 Round Robin playoff Saturday night. Various groups will perform onstage during the afternoon Saturday including the Klondike 5 String Band at 1:00 and 3 p.m., a fun group that brings great talents and the close-knit festival picking circles to the public’s eye. Another delicious dinner by Dr. John’s BBQ is served starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday Grand Finale Concert is filled with fabulous entertainment, including Jana Jae, Festival Host and Founder of Grand Lake Festivals, Inc., Barry “Bones” Patton, International Grand Champion Bones Player, and Jim Paul Blair in Buddy Holly and the Legends of Rock ‘N Roll.
