Miriam Brooks and Teresa McIlroy of Strength of Mind & Body are ready to help guide you to a healthier and happier lifestyle.
Professional coaches have long been recognized for their skills in helping athletes and executives perform at their highest level. Professional wellness coaches are now helping men and women reach their best health and wellbeing. Wellness coaches are trained to help clients develop and implement personal wellness plans.
Teresa McIlroy, Physical Therapist and Owner of Strength of Mind & Body, has practiced physical therapy for over 15 years. She received her BS in Physical Therapy, is a Certified Pilates Reformer Instructor, and is certified in weight training through IWA and personal training through NETA. Teresa received Wellness Coach Certification through Wellcoaches, Inc., a leading group in coaching. “My lifetime passion is to help others achieve optimal function and life fulfillment,” added Teresa. With her background and knowledge in anatomy and movement, Teresa offers a safe and effective approach to challenging others in meeting their fitness and wellness goals regardless of current fitness levels.
Strength of Mind & Body offers Pilates, fitness, yoga, and wellness, all in a friendly atmosphere where you can let go of the stresses of life and focus on taking care of yourself. “Our goal,” says Teresa, “is to assist our clients through knowledgeable and caring instructors and help them move through their personal self-change process.”
Staff Members at Strength of Mind & Body include Beth Cassody, licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, and Miriam Brooks, RN, BSN, CCRC and Certified Wellcoach. Miriam was one of Teresa’s first clients at Strength of Mind & Body and decided that wellness coaching was the missing piece of the puzzle to fulfilling her career life ambition. “Teresa helped give me the structure I needed in my life to create a healthier lifestyle,” says Miriam. “The coaching relationship provided accountability to reach my health goals.”
Miriam believes wellness coaching is the missing link to behavioral change. “Wellness coaching is not a ‘canned’ program,” she says. “We meet each client where they are today and help each formulate a personal program that we know will work for them and help them attain their goals.” Teresa and Miriam assist each client with defining their personal vision. Clients are asked questions such as: What do you want to look like? Feel like? What do you want to be doing a year from now? What are your strengths and what motivates you? Through the process, Strength of Mind & Body professionals help each client verbalize their vision and put a plan in motion that will help them attain that vision.
“There are five ‘stages of readiness’ to changing one’s life,” says Teresa. “They include: Pre-contemplation (I won’t or I can’t in the next six months); Contemplation (I may in the next six months); Preparation (I will in the next month; Action (I’m doing it now); and Maintenance (I’ve been doing it for at least six months).” Where are you? Are you ready to change your life?
Teresa invites you to call Strength of Mind & Body this week…today… to make an appointment for a free consultation to see if you feel a Wellness Coach can help you make behavioral changes that could change your life.
