Golfers, athletes and youth alike come out for the annual tournament. The proceeds from the Smokin’ Hot 100 Golf Marathon go to Volunters for Youth programs and camps.

Rogers County Volunteers for Youth invites golfers and hackers of all skill levels to participate in their 12th annual “Smokin’ Hot 100” Golf Marathon on Tuesday, July 26th at Claremore’s Heritage Hills Golf Course.  “Unlike an actual golf tournament, where golfers are concerned with their scores, this fun event is for players of any level that have a heart for our youth-serving mission and would like to help us continue offering these valuable programs,” said Chris Butler, Volunteers for Youth Executive Director.
Money is raised through the golf marathon because golfers and non-golfers alike can participate by self-pledging at $1.00 per hole, seeking matching pledges, and playing 100 holes of golf in the July heat.
Several changes in the format of the game are made to speed up the play and make playing 100 holes very possible.  Since Volunteers for Youth is a 501c3 charitable organization, all pledges are tax deductible.
Besides a lot of swings, a lot of fun and the satisfaction of helping Volunteers for Youth, participants will receive breakfast, lunch, continuous refreshments, plenty of golf balls to hit away and the opportunity to earn prizes.  A shotgun start at daybreak, every golfer in their own cart, and the course closed to others, allows the marathon to work.
The event allows Volunteers for Youth to continue offering vital programs such as mentoring for Rogers County public school students, after school programming and summer camps for students in grades 6-8. Other programs that benefit include a program for juvenile first offenders to help them avoid juvenile court, a classroom setting for students on long-term suspensions from school as well as various healthy living & prevention programs aimed at reducing substance abuse among our youth and encouraging overall healthier communities.
Sign up to participate or make a pledge today.
