Gloria Pierce is throwing a birthday party for all doll lovers at My Doll Castle on September 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Special guests Sarah Lynn Babik and Beverly Stoehr will be signing dolls and giving away prizes.
My Doll Castle is throwing a birthday celebration for all doll lovers! Two guests of honor – Sarah Lynn Babik, owner of Diamond Doll Designs, and Beverly Stoehr, world-renowned doll artist – will be on hand to sign dolls, give away prizes and enjoy refreshments with everyone. “The idea for the party came from Sarah Lynn’s beautiful line of birthstone dolls,” said Gloria Pierce, owner of My Doll Castle. “I am so excited to have her and Beverly at our birthday party celebrating the gift of life.” The event will be held September 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at My Doll Castle in Claremore.
Special guest Beverly Stoehr was born into an army family and moved around for most of her childhood. She always had a love for dolls, but was never able to have them because of her family’s constant relocating. Beverly’s enthusiasm for dolls resurfaced after she met her husband Roger and they had their two children, Roger Jr. and Barbara. Barbara had reached the age of playing with dolls, and Beverly was disappointed to find that there were no pretty dolls for her to enjoy.
Her career as a doll maker began at a ceramics show, where she was on a panel of judges. At the show was a magnificent porcelain doll that Beverly simply could not take her eyes off of. From that point on, she was hooked.
Beverly Stoehr has been Marie Osmond’s teacher of sculpting and mentor for five years, and she has sculpted for the Marie Osmond line for the past six years. She has also been a recipient of the prestigious Doll of the Year (Doty) Award from “Doll Reader Magazine.”
