The guys will wear their boots and the girls will wear their bling the night of February 23rd when the 12th annual Me & My Guy Dance is held at Rogers State University’s Carolyn Taylor Center Ballroom. All dads (or important male figure) and daughters up through 12th grade may attend the event from 6-9 p.m.
“What started in 2002 as a small community event to strengthen father-daughter relationships has grown into something that hundreds of area dads and daughters look forward to every year,” said Kendel Stocker, event chair.
Justin Cameron and his daughters.
“My daughter is 18 and this will be her 12th and final year before college. She wouldn’t miss it,” said Kay Hering.
“The Me & My guy dance gives fathers and father figures the opportunity to set the standard for how they expect their girls to be treated on a date. When the father/father figure treats the young girl with respect and admiration, there’s a subtle message sent to the girls. Just as important, the dance gives them a memory that they will always look back on,” said RCYS Director Herb McSpadden.
Thanks to the event sponsors, every daughter in attendance will receive a custom charm created to reflect the 2019 “Boots & Bling” theme and door prizes to be given out through the evening. Door prizes for the dads are a new addition to this year’s event. Cookies, punch, and professional photography will add to the festivities.
Herb McSpadden wants his daughters to expect their future boyfriends/husband to treat them with the same respect and admiration he shows them daily. The Me & My Guy Dance is a favorite for this trio.
