The ever-popular Buy Broken Arrow event, now in its 15th year, begins Friday, November 6 and runs through Friday, December 18. This is your chance to support local Broken Arrow merchants, take care of your Christmas shopping, and maybe even win thousands of dollars in cash.

This year’s drawing will feature the usual $10,000, $3,000 and $2,000 prizes, plus a new $1,500 prize sponsored by Walmart. “Buy Broken Arrow is a big draw, not only for Broken Arrow but the surrounding areas as well,” says Kathy Reynolds, vice president of programs for the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s great to keep Broken Arrow tax dollars here as well as bring in tax dollars from other places.” How popular is Buy Broken Arrow? This year the Chamber expects participating merchants to hand out two-and-a-half million tickets.

The Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce has outlined a number of good reasons to keep your business in Broken Arrow. Shopping locally supports your community, as dollars spent locally provide Broken Arrow with more money for city services and infrastructure. More tax dollars spent locally also leads to greater economic development opportunity. Patronizing Broken Arrow businesses allows them to prosper and grow. And shopping in Broken Arrow can save you valuable time.

There is no purchase necessary to collect tickets. You’ll get one ticket for free just for visiting a participating merchant. An additional ticket will be awarded for every $10 spent.

Winning numbers will be announced on Friday, December 18 at 3 p.m. You need not be present to win. Winning numbers will be given on your local news, the Broken Arrow Chamber’s website (www.brokenarrowchamber.com), and the City of Broken Arrow’s website (www.brokenarrowok.gov). Winners will have three business days to claim their prizes.
