Chili Bowl
The Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals at Tulsa Expo Square's River Spirit Expo is an annual competition for Midget Sprint Car racing. Held each year for over 30 years, these races attract over 300 talented drivers from around the world. Five qualifying night races lead up to the championship competition on Saturday. See cars race around the quarter-mile clay oval track and perform slide jobs that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

1st Quarter Weaving Classes
Weaving is a great winter month activity. Begin the new year with a new craft or expand upon your current weaving knowledge with one of our classes. Registration for each class is required. Navajo Weaving – Jan 9-11 Learn how to weave in the Navajo tradition in one weekend. This is a basic weaving class, including fiber arts history and practical technology; offered on site or virtually. Each participant will finish a project to take home. Retreat fee is $299.00; all materials provided. Inkle Loom Weaving – Jan 18 Learn to warp and weave on an inkle loom in this 3-hour class. Each participant will make and take home a sash and a bookmark. Class fee is $49; all materials provided Beginners Rigid Heddle Weaving: Mug Rugs – Jan 25 Learn how to warp and weave on a rigid heddle loom. Take 4 finished mug rugs home with you. Class fee is $99; all materials provided Table Loom Weaving – Jan 31-Feb 1 Students will warp and weave their projects on a table loom. Each participant will make & take home a scarf or table runner and a trivet Class fee is $159; all materials provided Rag Rug Weaving – Feb 8 Learn to weave on a pre-warped floor loom and take home a beautiful woven rag rug. Class fee is $10 plus $10 per foot woven, all materials included. Class participants decide on the length they prefer during class. A deposit of $20 is required. Floor Loom Weaving – Feb 27-March 1 Students will warp and weave their projects on a harnessed floor loom. Each participant will make & take home a scarf or table runner and a trivet Class fee is $259; all materials provided Freestyle Weaving on the Rigid Heddle Loom for Beginners – March 8 Learn to warp and weave in a freestyle fashion on a rigid heddle loom. Participants will leave with a beautiful wall hanging or a coffee table runner. Class fee is $99; all materials provided Log Cabin Weaving on the Rigid Heddle Loom – April 5 Learn to warp and weave a log cabin design weaving on a rigid heddle loom. Participants will leave with a beautiful scarf or table runner. Class fee is $99; all materials provided Our classes go a degree farther than most, and teach some history of fiber arts, and practical technology. As well as being augmented by hands on learning tools available in the Educational Farm Museum. Shepherd’s Cross offers weaving and fiber arts classes year-round, on an individual or group basis. Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritourism facility, an Oklahoma Museum Association member, and a Made in Oklahoma Company that processes local Animal Welfare Approved fiber (chemical free, hormone free, free range, all natural). Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, processing the wool from their own sheep raised on site. Heart of the Shepherd is the non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm and establishes wool mills in remote, impoverished areas around the world. Heart of the Shepherd teaches Biblical references to the harvest, the animals, farming, and gardening. Shepherd’s Cross Farm Store is open Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 – 5:30, year-round (closed some holidays).

On the second Saturday of each month, drop by the farm to watch or participate as we fellowship and work hand crafts and fiber arts. Western Hills Winter Bluegrass Festival
Come out and enjoy gospel and traditional bluegrass music during the Western Hills Winter Bluegrass Festival. Held over three days in January, this bluegrass festival is a fast-moving display of musical talent with a handful of bands showcasing their skills on the fiddle, banjo, and guitar. The Western Hills Winter Bluegrass Festival, held on the grounds of the beautiful Lodge at Sequoyah State Park, will feature top bands from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, and Missouri. A special all-gospel show will be performed on Thursday.
Bring your favorite instrument and participate in jam sessions held in the hotel lobby. A variety of musical workshops will also be held throughout the festival, so get your ticket or a three-day pass and brush up on your bluegrass skills. Workshops will be held on instruments such as the five-string banjo, flattop guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, and bass. Workshops on all bluegrass stringed instruments will be held Friday afternoon. Visitors must have a ticket to participate in all events. Stick around each night after the concerts are over for all-night jam sessions. All activities are held indoors, so this event will be held rain or shine.

Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long
It's time to Go Short, Go Long, Go Very Long. This annual 5K, 10K, 25K and 50K is back again with distances for every level of runner or walker. All courses are along the paved River Parks Trail System in Tulsa and are very flat with the exception of one hill that is encountered once on the 25K course and twice on the 50K course. The 5K and 10K courses are very flat. There will be great finisher medals for all distances, a long-sleeved tech shirt and post-race food and beer. Hours: 5K and 10K begin at 8:10am.; 25K and 50K begin at 8am.
