Red Alert played at Mayfest 2006.
Although most people are focused on the holidays, planning for the 36th Annual Tulsa International Mayfest is well underway. Presented by Downtown Tulsa Unlimited and the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa, Mayfest 2008 will take place May 15 through 18. Event organizers are currently seeking performing artists for the festival.
Mayfest is nationally renowned for presenting the very best in arts and entertainment. While it is free to the public, the outdoor festival provides artists the opportunity to receive exposure to over 350,000 people that attend the four-day festival each year.
Mayfest’s art of all kinds will appeal to people of all ages. Multiple styles of music are represented each year, including rock and roll, classical, jazz, pop, country and many more. And the visual and market artists will feature their artistic talents in various mediums. Just a few include glass, leather, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, photography, watercolor paintings, oil paintings and much more. Dancers will also take to three different stages.
Applications are available at www.tulsamayfest.org and at the Mayfest office, which is located at 321 S. Boston, Suite 101, in Tulsa. Performing artists are asked to return their applications and a cassette, video tape or CD of their act no later than Friday, January 11, 2008.
