The City of Broken Arrow has announced that Events Park, 21101 E. 101st St., will be closed for events beginning May 27 until further notice to facilitate the construction of the public infrastructure improvements and the development of the Sunset at Broken Arrow Amphitheater.

The city said the closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the construction team and visitors to the park.

New Amphitheater Planned

The amphitheater project is a $93 million public/private partnership between the City of Broken Arrow and Sunset at Broken Arrow, LLC, to create a 12,500-seat open-air hospitality and entertainment venue for live concerts on 15 acres adjacent to Events Park. The amphitheater is expected to open for performances in late summer 2025.

“Tens of thousands of people enjoy Events Park’s wide-open spaces every year, and it’s only going to get better!” City Manager Michael Spurgeon said. “We look forward to welcoming our park visitors and festivals back as soon as it is safe to do so.”

Project Background

Events Park is a 125-acre park situated east of Northeastern State University and the Creek Turnpike. The park hosts around 30 events annually, such as Scotfest, Camp Bandage, and Rose Kites Over Broken Arrow. It offers various amenities, including picnic shelters, a fishing pond, and the Challenger Sports Complex. The Challenger Sports Complex will remain open for visitors and competitions during construction.

Sunset at Broken Arrow, LLC is a subsidiary of Notes Live, one of the fastest-growing entertainment and hospitality companies in the United States. Sunset has committed a $70 million capital investment on the entertainment complex and a minimum of 45 scheduled events projected to generate nearly $4 million in city sales tax and $934,000 in ad valorem tax revenues annually. The estimated annual economic impact is $211 million.
