Consigners Earn 70% at JBF Sale

Has your child outgrown a high-priced outfit after wearing it only once or twice?

By: Shelly Robinson | Category: Retail | Issue: April 2008

Karen Cable, franchise owner of Just Between Friends in Broken Arrow, welcomes you and your family to the spring sale April 10-12.

Has your child outgrown a high-priced outfit after wearing it only once or twice? What are you going to do with that expensive walker now that baby walks on her own?  What about all those fashionable maternity clothes that you know someone else could be using? The Just Between Friends sale could be the answer to all your questions; you can consign the things your family no longer uses and at the same time find the perfect things your children will need in the coming months.

The Just Between Friends Broken Arrow event will be held at the Green Country Event Center in Tulsa on 31st Street, just east of Garnett. This building, previously known as the Garnett Church of Christ, is a change of venue from their previous location at the Broken Arrow Community Center. Karen Cable, JBF Broken Arrow franchise owner, says that they are excited about the new location. “We will actually have more room at the Green Country Event Center, and since we are expecting almost 500 consignors and close to 50,000 items, we will make good use of it. We just want everyone to know that the Broken Arrow and Bixby area sale will be in Tulsa this time, so don’t miss out!” says Cable.

If you aren’t familiar with Just Between Friends, the spring event is the time to check it out.  JBF is the nation’s leading children’s and maternity consignment event. They have recently drawn the attention of national shows such as “The Big Idea with Danny Deutsch” and “ABC News” for their successful concept. Just Between Friends offers gently-used children’s, junior and maternity clothing in addition to baby equipment, household furniture, software, videos, toys and much more. “If it has to do with children, we probably have it. And it’s only going to cost about a third of what you pay at the mall,” says Cable.

JBF sales are good for sellers and buyers. With better returns than most consignment shops can offer and far less hassle than a garage sale, consignors are able to take all their items in one day and choose to pick up or donate items that don’t sell. According to Cable, the prices and selection for buyers are unrivaled, and they can find an entire season’s worth of items in one stop. “We have families that come to our sales twice each year and walk out with everything they need for their children in just a few hours. You can’t do that anywhere else for even close to our prices. It’s just good for everyone involved,” explains Cable.

Besides benefiting buyers and sellers, the JBF sale will also benefit the communities of Broken Arrow, Bixby, Haskell, Leonard and Coweta through donations made to the Salvation Army. “We charge a $2 admission the first day, and that goes to benefit our charities. Customers can also bring in canned food, personal hygiene products, diapers, formula… anything that would benefit the Salvation Army or the Margaret Hudson Program of Broken Arrow,” said Cable.

Sale dates and times are:

•    Thursday, April 10 Noon to 7 p.m.

•    Friday, April 11 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

•    Saturday, April 12 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday will be the half-price day this year. The sale will not be open on Sunday, to avoid interfering with church services and family schedules of JBF customers and consignors.

It’s not too late to become a consignor, and there is a special pre-sale for those consigning or volunteering to help during the sale. New moms are able to enjoy the pre-sale as well. For more information or to volunteer or consign, visit the JBF website at www.jbfsale.com. Happy Shopping!
