Although diamonds are known as a girl’s best friend, a good jeweler is often a guy’s best friend. How many of you males have been pulled out of a last minute bind by a jeweler who recommended that “perfect piece of jewelry” for someone special? It’s honestly impossible to go wrong with a jewelry selection for Christmas, birthdays, Valentines Day, anniversaries or any special occasion. And jewelry isn’t just for the ladies. Guys like it too.
John E. Koller has spent 22 years creating jewelry designs and doing jewelry repairs. His career began in New Jersey, the state in which he was raised. After spending years as an apprentice for a local jeweler in New Jersey, Koller responded to a job opportunity in Tulsa where he spent five years doing custom jewelry design. During that period, he found a home in Owasso that he saw as a departure from the large city life to which he had been accustomed. He fell in love with the “wide open spaces” and now calls Owasso home. When he decided to open the doors to his own jewelry business, it was an easy and instant decision to do it in Owasso.
Although Koller’s retail store carries a variety of rings, bracelets, necklaces, and pendants, he also specializes in doing custom one-of-a-kind pieces plus all types of jewelry repairs. He is also a jewelry restoration specialist. You never have to worry about your precious piece being “sent” across town or across the country for repairs. All work is done on site at the store in Owasso, Oklahoma. And the work is done by John himself.
An original creation begins with a wax carving, progresses to an investment stage, and finally to the casting of the piece. Although custom jewelry can be created “from scratch,” it can also be done by reworking or restyling a hand-me-down or heirloom. Such items can become the foundation for creating unique and original rings and pendants.
This laser welder at John E. Koller Jewelry Designs & Repair is used in custom designing and repairing precious jewelry.
John does minor watch repairs and battery replacements, broken chains and bracelets, and restoration of antique pieces. He has the capability to work with all precious metals.
In both 2005 and 2006, Koller received awards from the OJA (Oklahoma Jewelers Association) for his outstanding creations. The pieces were judged at the annual convention of jewelers held in Oklahoma City.
