On November 1, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., the Indian Women's Pocahontas Club will host the “Pocahontas Spirit – 125th Anniversary” Gala at Hard Rock Hotel & Resort, Tulsa.
This exciting event will be their First-Ever Mega Matriarch Celebration!! For 125 years, since 1899, Cherokee Matriarchs have united, celebrated and envisioned. These great ladies are the Indian Women’s Pocahontas Club. Since 1899, there have been more than 800 members in this highly-esteemed organization. The members and their families will gather from across the nation to spotlight some of the Matriarchs who excel, distinguish and advocate in their communities.
STACY LEEDS, first Native American to be the Dean of Law at the Arizona State University.
TRACI RABBIT, second generation Artist and Cherokee National Treasure
JANEES TAYLOR, Cherokee Nation Treasurer, former Council representative for District 15.
MELVINA SHOTPOUCH, First Language speaker and Cherokee Nation Tribal Council
MARY ELLEN MEREDITH, historian, author and editor of a Cherokee publishing firm.
JENNIFER MCAFFREY-THEISSEN, Leader of the Cherokee Nation Veterans Color Guard.
Entertainment will be provided by Becky Hobbs, Nashville singer, songwriter and entertainer and co-producer of “Nanyehi” and world-famous actor, Will Roberts who will bring a bag full of rope tricks and lasso Becky Hobbs and Jana Jae for a kick-ass heart-throbbing evening. There has never been an event of this magnitude showcasing Cherokee matriarchs.
