Tabitha Felts with Vibram Five Fingers Running Shoes.
It is the next best thing to running barefoot – the Vibram Five Fingers Running Shoe. In fact, it might actually be better for your feet, as it protects the foot from the elements while still allowing it to move freely and get the stimulation and exercise it needs. According to Tabitha Felts of Felts Shoes in Claremore, the Minimalistic Runner phase is in full force, which is what inspired this line of shoes. Since Tabitha is interested first and foremost in the health of her customers’ feet, she of course stocks this popular line of shoes on her shelves.
“If your feet are not happy, your body is not happy,” Tabitha says. She has become an expert on shoes and how they affect the feet. Tabitha wants to make sure customers not only have the best shoe, but the best fit possible for their optimum health and wellbeing. “If people aren’t happy with their shoe, they usually don’t blame the vendor. They blame the person who sold them the shoe,” she relates. “I want people to be happy with their purchase.”
This is why Tabitha tries to educate customers on how to buy the right shoe for their foot. She knows that common foot problems, including corns, bunions and hammertoe, can often be traced right back to a poorly fitting shoe. Other more subtle issues can be caused by incorrect fit as well, like knee, ankle, back and hip pain. She encourages customers to allow her or a staff member to measure their foot to get a correct size and to be willing to invest a little bit extra in order to get a quality brand shoe. She reports that many people will skimp on shoes for work especially, since those shoes will get a lot of wear and tear. But it is the wear and tear on the whole body from the work day that makes Tabitha advise the customer to rethink this decision. “When you are on your feet all day,” she says, “what bothers your feet will bother your whole body.”
With school approaching, growing youngsters will be in need of sizing, and Tabitha has stocked Felts Shoes with many quality lines to choose from, including Nike, Adidas, and Skechers. She currently carries Skechers’ “Bobs,” a popular shoe among teens in particular. As an added bonus, those who buy “Bobs” will also be helping those in need, as Skechers donates two pairs of shoes to disaster victims for every one sold. “These shoes are really cute for females,” says Tabitha. “They can be casual or dressy, depending on what you are wearing.”
Also for back to school, Tabitha carries loafer type shoes for those who wear uniforms. And all shoes are included in Oklahoma’s Tax Free Weekend, August 5-7.
Tabitha strives to keep service of optimum importance in her store, and she enjoys being part of a small community like Claremore. By remaining an independent, locally owned business, she is able to support local endeavors and projects through sponsorship. Support – whether it is of the foot or of her town – is what Tabitha Felts of Felts Shoes is really all about.
