Cynthia and Taras Tikhomirov traveled throughout the world to select ideas from the best resort spas to bring to Tulsa at Spa Lux.
The ultimate in luxury day spas is available in Tulsa at Spa Lux, 8922 S. Memorial, Ste. B. For more than seven years, owners Taras and Cynthia Tikhomirov visited extravagant spas around the world. Their interest in travel and luxury spas took them to London, Paris and many other destinations across the globe.
They noted all the elements that made these world-class spas superior, while they dreamed of someday having their own. A mountain resort in Turkey and a job loss in Tulsa provided the stimulus to turn their dream into a reality.
In August of last year, Spa Lux opened its doors to unveil a design like no other in or near Tulsa. National attention soon followed. In December, DaySpa Magazine named Spa Lux top design honor for 2008.
While Taras developed the floor plan, Cynthia used her background in interior decorating to put together a fusion of flavors that incorporates contemporary, European chic, classic and Japanese. Lavish details include a crystal chandelier imported from Spain, white leather furniture from Italy, custom shoji doors, Japanese-style vessel sinks, onyx floors and light fixtures that mimic paper lanterns. Soft lighting and a tranquil calmness throughout the spa create a luxurious sanctuary effect.
The Spa Lux comprehensive menu of services is based on a holistic approach that incorporates body, mind and spirit. Every service begins with a footbath. “Clients tell us how amazed they are to feel the tension leave their bodies,” says Cynthia. “They say all their muscles begin to relax at once.”
A wide range of massages includes both pampering and therapeutic treatments. Spa Lux offers an authentic Thai massage, with a room designed specifically for it. In this special setting, a Thai professional performs the massage just like they do it in the Orient. For couples’ massages, there is a special side-by-side massage room with shoji doors. Numerous body polishes, masks, facials, waxing, and hand and foot treatments for ladies and gentlemen are also available.
Spa Lux signature services include a customized facial, a signature manicure, and a signature pedicure with hot rocks. Special packages are tailored for individuals, couples and soon-to-be brides and grooms.
One of the latest additions is hydro-tub LED lights therapy. This concept brings together underwater jet massage with colorful, soothing LED lights.
Another exclusive Spa Lux feature is the lavish natural marble Turkish steam room, an amenity that Taras and Cynthia found in only the most extravagant spas. “We want to provide all of the very best,” Taras explains. “Our goal is to develop a five-star rating as a destination day spa.”
They are proud to be the only spa in Oklahoma to offer Sundãri skin care products – a premium line they discovered in their world travels. The Sundãri collection is free from synthetic fragrances and dyes, and free from animal testing.
Taras says private parties have become popular for corporate awards and guests, for bridal parties, and for families. Groups of six or more people can book a private event in the spa. “This provides a wonderful spa experience for everyone to share, while each person gets his or her own customized treatment.”
Spa Lux provides the services and amenities of a world-class destination spa, with the added convenience of an urban setting and extended hours. Appointments are available Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Lunch is included with three or more treatments in a day. Spa Lux is located northwest of 91st and Memorial near Stein Mart.
