Brandy Owens recommends spray-on tanning for upcoming special events where you need to look your best quickly.
Almost everyone loves the idea of having golden, sun-kissed skin. But research shows that too much kissing from the actual sun can be harmful. If you would like to look like you have been touched by Old Sol without having actual contact with his rays, you will want to visit Golden Tan in Broken Arrow, where there are plenty of safe options to obtain that healthy glow.
Golden Tan is the home of the Ultrabronz bed, a high pressure tanning bed designed specifically to filter both UVA and UVB rays for just the right combination to bronze the skin without damage. Many people have to be careful in conventional tanning beds, gradually increasing their time so that they do not burn their skin. But according to Brandy Owens of Golden Tan, “It is virtually impossible to burn in Ultrabronz beds.” She explains that this is because UVB rays are carefully controlled, allowing just enough through to stimulate melanin, but not enough to burn.
Brandy points to another advantage of Ultrabronz beds – you actually spend less time in them to maintain your tan. “When you are exposed to UVB, your skin sheds faster and your tan doesn’t last as long,” says Brandy. “When you use our beds, you are exposed mostly to UVA, so your tan lasts ten times longer – and to maintain your tan, you only have to tan every two weeks.” Even establishing the base tan is easier with an Ultrabronz bed. When using a conventional tanning bed, it takes 10 to 15 sessions to acquire the tan, as opposed to three to four times in an Ultrabronz bed.
There are some who do not want to expose their skin to any rays at all but who still want that golden look. For them, Golden Tan offers spray-on sunless tanning. “Spray-on tanning is safe for everyone,” says Brandy. “Even expectant mothers use this system.”
Spray-on tanning uses Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is extracted from sugar cane and darkens the skin’s pigment. Put simply, spray-on tanning uses DHA to stain the skin and make it appear that it has been tanned by the sun when it actually hasn’t. DHA has been studied and approved by the FDA and the American Academy of Dermatology, which states: “The most effective sunless tanning products contain DHA as the active ingredient.”
DHA is not toxic and is not absorbed by the skin into the system. Since it lasts four to seven days, sunless tanning is perfect for the person who would like to obtain a healthy glow for a special event, reunion, or get together. In order to get the best and most lasting results from your sunless tanning package, Brandy recommends reading and following the preparation directions carefully.
