As spring makes its long-anticipated arrival, the days get longer and life heads back outside. As you daydream about warm days spent in the backyard, and parties under the stars, what does it look like? If you imagine a beautiful deck, or a charming pergola – look no further than Sawdust, Ltd.

Rick Vaughan, owner of Sawdust Limited, began carpentry after high school. His passion for developing carpentry skills and techniques led him to constructing beautiful redwood decks in the mid-1980s and 90s. The company quickly became the source for creating one-of-a-kind decks and pergolas in the Tulsa area. Vaughan is a founding member of NADRA, or North American Deck and Railing Association, an organization committed to keeping the integrity of the deck building industry intact.

Sawdust Limited uses only the finest materials available in their structures to give their customers the best value possible.

“When you use a better product, you get a better value. That’s what we’re all about,” Vaughan said.

They use composite decking now, a man-made blend of wood or bamboo fiber and plastic, which optimizes longevity and lowers maintenance. Sawdust Limited uses the lastest version of composite available. Moisture Shield, Envision, Fiberon and Fortress Deck are some of the best decking products available in our area. Many of these products have been featured on HGTV. They also use Big Timber and GRK fasteners on all of their decks and pergolas.

For their pergolas, they use only the finest western red cedar, and OZCO hardware – as seen on the hit home improvement show, “Fixer Upper”.

Vaughan said, “It’s all about using the right material in the right way. From there, we can create uniquely designed structures that will last our customers many years with minimal maintenance.”

Customer satisfaction is Sawdust Limited’s top priority. They pride themselves in paying close attention to detail in the design and construction of their structures. Additionally, they offer a myriad of handrail options using metal, cable and composite. Vaughan said the company has a track record of high-quality performance. “We do it right the first time. We don’t get callbacks,” he said.

Apart from excellent customer service, Sawdust Limited values community service, as well. In 2007, the company was honored to be the first deck builder of NADRA to donate a deck to a local veteran coming back from Iraq. NADRA's 'Deck for a Soldier' was launched and has been providing  decks across the country every year since. Vaughan believes serving the Tulsa community is a privilege.

“The people of Tulsa are quality people, and they want good quality in their products,” Vaughan said, “It’s a hardworking community that appreciates good work. That’s what we give them.”

Sawdust Limited will be sharing a booth with Deckit, Inc. at the Home Builders Association’s Home and Garden show March 9-12 at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds. You can stop by their booth and see the expert craftsmanship up-close and personal.
