It's time for the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce's 2011 Annual Banquet and Awards! Glenpool is blessed with businesses and individuals who truly deserve to be rewarded for the treasures they bestow on our community. Please take this opportunity to reflect on companies or individuals who stand out, and nominate those you feel deserve to be recognized. The deadline for the award nominations is January 10, 2011.

For 2010, the Chamber is now accepting nominations for six awards, which includes three new awards: Citizen of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Business of the Year Award (20 or more employees), Small Business of the Year Award (fewer than 20 employees), Business Woman of the Year Award, and Business Man of the Year Award.

Every year, citizens of Glenpool and its surrounding area are eligible for Chamber of Commerce Awards without regard to race or creed, and nominees are not required to be members of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce. Posthumous awards will not be considered, but an exception may be granted for persons who died within the last twelve-month period immediately preceding the selection. Consideration will not be limited to achievements or contributions during the year immediately preceding the year of the award, but shall be cumulative over a period of years in the community. No person shall be selected to receive the awards more than once.

The selection committee shall be named by the Chamber Board of Directors. If, in the determination of the selection committee, no candidate exists that meets the criteria for the awards in any given year, no award will be presented.

Citizen of the Year Award Requirements:

•    Volunteer service to the Glenpool community and the area. Volunteer services are considered to be civic enterprises which are non-profit related and are non-paid.

•    Accomplishments toward the betterment of the Glenpool community

•    Character and citizenship

•    Civic leadership

•    Secondary factors may include personal and business accomplishments, family, church and school.

•    Other attributes and factors which are generally understood by society as a whole to be contributing factors in identifying one as an outstanding individual who makes contributions to the betterment of society.

Lifetime Achievement Award Requirements:

•    An outstanding individual whose spirit, resourcefulness and determination have been a major contribution to the Glenpool community

•    The significance of the nominee's contributions continues to be reflected in the advancement of the Glenpool community

•    Has inspired others by their lifelong contributions of their treasures of time or money

Business of the Year Award Requirements:

•    Member of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce

•    Has been supportive of the Glenpool community and has a history of community involvement

•    Advocate for a better business community

•    Exhibits superior customer service

•    Has demonstrated successful business strategies and goals

Small Business of the Year Award Requirements:

•    Member of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce

•    Is supportive of the community and has a history of community involvement

•    Advocate for a better business community

•    Exhibits superior customer service

•    Has demonstrated successful business strategies and goals

Business Woman of the Year Award Requirements:

•    Member of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce

•    Served as a role model and worked on behalf of women in business issues

•    Displayed extraordinary business skills

•    Made significant contributions to the business community

•    Demonstrates continued commitment to community involvement

Business Man of the Year Award Requirements:

•    Member of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce

•    Demonstrates vision, leadership and innovation on behalf of the business community

•    Displayed extraordinary business skills

•    Made significant contributions to the business community

•    Demonstrates continued commitment to community involvement

To nominate an individual or business, pick up a nomination form from the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce, 140 W. 141st St. Submit a typed summary addressing and detailing each listed requirement for the selected category. Attach additional documentation and deliver or mail to: Glenpool Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 767, 140 W. 141st, Glenpool, OK 74033. Deadline for nominations is January 10, 2011.

All nominees will be invited to the Annual Awards Banquet scheduled for February 19, 2011, and the nominee chosen will be announced during the banquet.
