Interior Designer Kristen (Pallett) LaMont shows some of the newest line of custom furnishings available at Surceé Home Décor & Gifts in Owasso.
When Kristen (Pallett) LaMont graduated with her degree in interior design from the University of Central Oklahoma this past May, she headed right back to her hometown of Owasso. After working part time for more than three years at Surceé during college breaks and summers, Kristen was ready to begin her professional career at the store she already loved. “Surceé has always had a great variety of gifts and home décor, but now we are offering furniture, lighting, mirrors, rugs and artwork,” shared Kristen. “It’s really exciting to help customers find everything they need to create a personal look all in one place.”
Regular Surceé shoppers know that owner Laura Sanders doubled the size of the store last fall and that extra space is filled with beautiful furniture lines, available in a variety of fabrics. They also offer custom-ordered furniture in a smaller selection of fabrics.
Laura says that the trend for large-scale homes has created a need for furniture that accommodates high ceilings and open areas. “Furniture height is important in creating the balance in a room, as well as properly sized light fixtures and chandeliers,” explains Laura. “Whether you are looking to finish the design of a newly constructed home or incorporate your style in an existing home, we have what you need.”
Surceé customers have requested more artwork, and the new space has also allowed Laura to expand in that area. Vignettes around the store help customers see how pieces work together, and if you have a specific area you are working on, you are welcome to bring in a photo and the Surceé girls will help you create that signature look they are known for. Kristen, Laura and her mother, Sue Hatfield, are also available for in-home consultations and say that keeping up with the latest trends keeps the store fresh and ever-changing. “The word for spring is color, and lots of it,” smiled Laura. “I know our clients will enjoy the new items that are starting to arrive.”
Of course, Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and you’ll want to be prepared with something special for all the sweethearts in your life. Kristen suggests the Waxing Poetic line of sentimental jewelry with a vintage touch. “Waxing Poetic items are so personal, no one ever walks out with the same thing twice. New charms and bracelets with a hammered look are very popular, whether you are adding to an existing bracelet or starting something new.” A trunk show will be held February 7 from 2 to 7 p.m. and will feature extra pieces not normally available and a sneak peek at the new spring line. There is even an engravable line that can be custom ordered.
Traditional favorites including lotions, bubble baths and perfumes by Lollia make wonderful gifts, and you’ll want to check out the latest scents, At Last and Wander. Hard to find battery-operated candles with remote control are very popular. Embellished flip flops, great frames and a variety of cooking and decorating books help you find something for everyone on your list.
As the exclusive Brighton dealer in the Owasso area, you will find a vast selection of items including their newest line, My Flat In London. From purses and perfume, wallets and watches, all kinds of jewelry and the ever popular charm bar, Brighton items are funky and fun.
Surceé offers registries for babies and brides, and anyone can fill out a wish list to keep on file if your special someone is shopping-challenged. Free gift bags or wrap is available, and you can even call ahead and have something ready to go. What could be simpler?
