Sheryl and Paula after a training session at Fitness Together.
My experience at Fitness Together was very positive and motivational. Paula and Steve were friendly, encouraging and informative. They begin with a thorough fitness assessment that includes measuring your body in several areas and weighing you, so you know exactly how much progress you are making over time. Paula explained that working with a personal trainer at Fitness Together encompasses all areas of physical fitness – conditioning and toning, cardiovascular fitness, stretching and flexibility, and nutrition. They go over your goals with you and work to build a program that will help you achieve those goals.
While Duane trained with Steve, my session was primarily with Paula. As we went through the workout, Paula was very supportive, giving constant feedback and using my name frequently. She showed me what I was doing wrong and encouraged me when I was doing something well. It was not intimidating or uncomfortable at all. We went through a conditioning circuit that included working my glutes, legs, arms and abs, using various tools including a weight bench, Bosu ball, fitness ball, and the TRX suspension band. She worked with me every step of the way. I noticed that when I work out alone, I take it a lot easier on myself. With Paula there encouraging me, I was motivated to push myself harder. By the time we had finished, I had definitely broken a sweat.
After the circuit, we did stretching exercises. She also showed me how to massage my muscles using a foam roller. As we were stretching, Paula explained that she’s like a confidant to her clients; they form a bond by discussing not only health and fitness, but also other parts of their lives. I can see how this would be true – both Paula and Steve are down to earth and easy to talk to. Paula said she works with everyone from a seven-year-old girl in cheer working to improve her flexibility to a woman in her seventies working on balance, core and strength.
Immediately after the training session, I felt energized and accomplished. Even for a couple days after the workout, I felt its effects – a “good sore” – I could tell I had really worked out my muscles. Paula even gave me a call a few days afterward to see how I felt.
After my experience at Fitness Together, I would highly recommend giving Paula and Steve a call to discuss your fitness goals. They are very knowledgeable about how to get you into the shape you want to be, and they’re fun, friendly people to be around.
