Janet Sherwood, Director Sapulpa Main Street
Holiday shopping while fighting crowds in packed department stores and malls is never much fun. Put the fun back into holiday shopping by visiting quaint, friendly Sapulpa during the Holiday Stroll on Thursday, December 7, between 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. and experience the difference.
“Holiday shopping in Sapulpa is a great experience,” explains Janet Sherwood, Main Street director. “The festive atmosphere, the holiday lights, the gourmet food to sample, the personal service and the happy faces all help make Christmas shopping downtown a pleasure.” She adds, “Plus, this is the last week to get your Jingle Bell Sweepstakes tickets, which are your chance to win $10,000 and many other cash prizes.”
There will be carriage rides through historic downtown Sapulpa during the Holiday Stroll, refreshments will be available as well as music, live performances, carolers singing, sales and discounts at some stores, plenty of parking, foods to sample and more. This is a chance for storeowners to display holiday wares and for the public to sample a truly unique shopping experience. There will be a window-decorating contest for storeowners, so the stores will be fancy and festive and there are many specialty stores, gift stores and restaurants to visit.
Of course, Christmas would not be complete without an appearance from Santa himself. He will be meeting with children at Martha’s Corner, assisted by his able elves who will be handing out candy and posing for photographs during the Holiday Stroll on Thursday December 7.
The Holiday Stroll will be a last chance to get your Jingle Bell Sweepstakes tickets. You could win $10,000 or one of three $1,000 prizes or two $500 prizes. Just collect Jingle Bell Sweepstakes tickets before December 16, from any of the 117 Sapulpa businesses and stores participating. Each ticket gives you a chance to win in the drawing. Normally, you would collect one ticket for every $10 you spend, however, some merchants will be offering double tickets for every $10 spent. Collect as many tickets as you can and enter the sweepstakes.
There will also be several $1,000 winners. In past years, the sweepstakes drawing has seen a crowd of 15-20,000 people. This year the drawing will be held on December 16 at 1 p.m. at the Court House Plaza. You must be present to win. If this isn’t enough, the Monday, December 18, after the main draw there will be an additional drawing for one $500 winner. So there will be many chances to win!
“All aboard the Jingle Bell Express this holiday season is our theme this year,” says Sherwood, “and it’s going to be great fun.” The sweepstakes are designed to keep shoppers shopping with local businesses during the holiday season. The holiday campaign has always drawn shoppers from neighboring communities and each of the previous sweepstakes has been a huge success.
Sapulpa, which is easily accessible via Historic Route 66, features many excellent speciality stores like A Moment in Time, owned by Reba Nation, where you will find one of the best assortments of Christmas decorations in the area and an impressive display of deliciously scented candles; Doodles, the largest Hallmark store west of the Mississippi, owned by Doddle Hamilton, which sells a fantastic selection of Hallmark gifts and cards, Fitz and Floyd china and an amazing array of gifts and household items; and Le Jardin, owned by Margie Cockran, selling unique Christmas gifts and jewelry.
“Customers really get great customer service in a small town like Sapulpa that you simply don’t find at the malls in the city,” says Reba Nation of A Moment in Time.
