Each holiday season Claremore’s Historic Downtown Will Rogers Blvd. transforms into a winter wonderland with Victorian charm. It’s always a special time, with events packed full of fun, community spirit, and festive sparkle. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, there’s no shortage of exciting things. Wendy Woody, marketing manager at Visit Claremore, shared her excitement for the town’s lineup, which includes some beloved traditions and exciting new opportunities.
Starting November 1, Santa Cash kicks off the season with a bang! By shopping at local businesses, you’ll not only be supporting the community but also entering to win big cash prizes. “Remember to shop local to get that Santa Cash for a chance to win some money,” Wendy reminds everyone. The winners are announced at Will Rogers Downs on December 14 at 11a.m., and each year there are more participating stores, meaning more chances to win. To see which businesses are in the running, head over to the Claremore Chamber of Commerce website, www.claremore.org.
For even more holiday cheer, don’t miss the Holiday Open House on November 7. This event is a small business shopper’s dream with bingo, refreshments, and special sales throughout Claremore’s charming downtown. “The merchants put a lot of work into this event to make it fun for everybody,” Wendy says, noting that about 20 local shops are taking part this year. You can follow the Claremore Downtown Shopping District Facebook page for updates.
If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, grab tickets for GT Arena Motocross Nationals at the Claremore Expo. “Every year this motocross event sells out,” Wendy says. It’s a unique addition to Claremore’s seasonal lineup that’s perfect for all ages, drawing big crowds for an unforgettable experience of dirt, speed, and thrills.

For a more peaceful but equally magical experience, nothing beats the Claremore Lake Lights. “Each year it grows”, Woody says, “making it a must-see for locals and visitors alike.” The lights shine nightly from dusk until 10 p.m., starting in late November and staying up through January 6. Wendy calls it one of her personal favorites. “For me, Claremore Lake Lights is a highlight.
One of Claremore’s most cherished holiday traditions is Dickens on the Boulevard, which brings a touch of Victorian-era charm to Claremore Main Street. “It’s like a kick-off to Christmas,” Wood says. “It’s our first Santa sighting here in Claremore.” This family-friendly event brings carolers, festive activities, and a strong sense of community. Keep an eye out for Rosie the Reindeer, too, as the Claremore Museum of History hosts a special meet-and-greet with a live reindeer—perfect for photos with the kids! This event takes place on both November 22 and 23.
As December rolls in, the festivities continue! On December 7, the annual Christmas Parade will delight with creative floats and music, as the parade makes its way down Will Rogers Boulevard. This year’s theme is Wild West Christmas. “I enjoy the creativity and seeing the community come out to support our band kids,” Wendy shares.
From December 13, you can enjoy the 12 Days of Christmas with participating downtown merchants. Each day brings new discounts and specials, making it the perfect time to check off that holiday shopping list while supporting local small businesses.
Another cherished event is Christmas at the Farm at Shepherd’s Cross, where families can enjoy a living nativity, and other fun activities. Wreaths Across America on December 14, “Offers a beautiful way for the community to honor fallen service members by sponsoring a wreath and coming out to aid with a wreath-laying ceremony,” Wendy says.
“Claremore is the perfect small-town America. We have so much to offer, not just at Christmas time but throughout the year.” With so many holiday happenings, Claremore is the place to be this season!
