Ron Horn shows off a small section of the fine boot-wear you’ll find at Horn’s Western Outfitters in Glenpool at 138th and Highway 75.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that 2011 is a good year to start a business. Ron Horn, owner of Horn’s Western Outfitters in Glenpool, was a jump ahead of the Journal. He opened his new business just before Christmas last year in Glenpool on the Highway 75 business corridor, one of the fastest growing retail areas in northeast Oklahoma.
While still a youngster, Ron was dreaming of owning his own western store. He later served as a manufacturer’s representative for 20 years, traveling across Oklahoma and 10 other states. While on the road visiting thousands of western stores, he took note of things he liked best. Ron represented multiple boot lines, hat companies and clothing brands; in total, he served hundreds of small and large western stores. He is undoubtedly one of the southwest’s leading experts on the western retail industry, knowing the latest fashions and how to fit and stylishly combine clothing articles. Some of the popular product lines you will find at Horn’s include Justin, Wrangler, Roper, Tony Lama, Cruel Girl and Resistol.
According to Ron, “Western customers are unique. They have specific tastes and brand preferences, and they demand expert advice and service.” Ron is building his store’s business featuring high quality western wear and good basic selections in all product lines, all at affordable prices. “Low prices are important to success in this industry,” says Ron, “but I’ve found that customers demand more.” With his extensive experience, Ron is qualified to meet that demand by providing excellent individual service.
In addition to the latest styles and products, Horn’s Western Outfitters has gone high tech. By employing the concept of Business-to-Business (B2B), they are able to connect a customer directly to factory inventories of the largest western manufacturers via a computer terminal inside the store.
Whenever you purchase a product from Horn’s, their sophisticated management system controls inventory check in, cash register sales, accounting, inventory management, customer data and more. The advanced system is extremely efficient, and the information can be helpful on future purchases, whether for yourself or for others for whom you have made purchases.
If interested, you may stay in contact with Horn’s Western Outfitters through Facebook and Twitter. This makes communications with customers personal and current, and gives them a quick means of communicating with Ron. By the end of this year, he predicts his store will have the ability to allow customers to purchase selections online via Horn’s website.
Ron says that a customer recently told him she was in Tulsa and had visited a big western store looking for a particular item. She couldn’t find the item and was getting no assistance from store personnel when she got frustrated and decided, “I’ll just go back to Glenpool to my western store.” That’s exactly how Ron wants all his customers to feel: that Horn’s Western Outfitters is their western store.
Horn’s is a sophisticated western store featuring the most current styles at reasonable prices. They are conveniently located so people from all over southwest Tulsa County will feel it is their western store home. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Drop by and say “hello” to Ron, Barbara and Jasmyn. They would love to get to know you.
