Dr. Craig Day performs non-surgical spinal decompression to relieve chronic lower back pain.
Where does it hurt? Anyone who says “lower back” is in luck. Dr. Craig Day at Dr. Day’s Chiropractic has provided lasting relief for many patients and restored them to their normal lives without surgery, injections or drugs.
In the past, a patient suffering from disc problems and many sleepless nights was usually given pain meds, instructed to refrain from physical activities, and referred for physical therapy. When they weren’t progressing, they were sent for spinal surgery. Conservative chiropractic care proved very helpful in many cases, yet there have been some cases when surgery seemed to be the only other option – but that is not the case.
Dr. Day uses a relatively new procedure called non-surgical spinal decompression (NSSD). A very sophisticated machine cycles the patient through a series of gentle pulls, holds and releases. The therapy is painless and so relaxing that many patients actually fall asleep.
NSSD has been proven effective for treating the pain associated with bulging and herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica and even relapse or failed back surgery. The procedure has been clinically tested and FDA approved. The entire program consists of 20 to
25 sessions during four to six weeks. Some patients require more and some less, depending on their condition.
Dr. Day’s treatment room is filled with photographs and success stories from patients who have had NSSD. Comments like “I can go dancing again” are not unusual. He has successfully treated 20-somethings who were involved in car accidents, as well as an 80-year-old retired football player.
One reason they are so successful is the fact that Dr. Day does not just leave his patients on their own after NSSD treatment. Aftercare is the hallmark of his practice. He includes a procedure called Whole Body Vibration (WBV) to accelerate healing.
Whole body vibration was developed by the Soviet space program in the 1960s to rehabilitate space travelers suffering from bone loss and muscle atrophy. In recent years it has become very popular with professional athletes and trainers. Because WBV increases circulation and muscle activity at the cellular level, users heal from injuries in less time. The stimulation from the vibrating platform increases “feel good” hormones; reduces strain on joints, ligaments and tendons; improves detoxification; and reduces stiffness, pain and fatigue.
“My patients think this is the coolest thing,” he says. “They have never done anything like this, but it really feels good. And it is good for them.”
Dr. Day wants to provide each and every patient with personalized care so that he knows their needs and all the things that they want do when they’re healed. “It’s all about you” is his motto. In order to assure this quality care, he limits the number of new patients to 12 per month.
Most of the new patients are referrals. Anyone else who suffers from chronic back pain or sciatica can fill out an online survey to determine candidacy for treatment. “If you have tried everything, this may be your last stop,” he says. “This conservative treatment option can eliminate the need for surgery altogether.”
Dr. Craig Day’s office is conveniently located in the heart of midtown Tulsa at the northeast corner of 31st and Harvard. For more information, call (918) 742-2094.
