Downtown Collinsville is gearing up for one of the biggest car and motorcycle shows in the state. On June 11, more than 300 vintage and classic cars and motorcycles will take over Main Street during the city’s 15th Annual Hogs N’ Hot Rods Car and Motorcycle Show. The event is free and open to the public.
The family-friendly event anticipates drawing in between 10-15,000 people to attend, more than doubling the population of this town of 6,000 located north of Owasso.
Cars and motorcycle owners will compete for cash prizes and trophies in a number of categories including best interior, best paint, best engine and best of show. More than 70 trophies, prizes or plaques will be awarded.
The event also features performances by the winners of Collinsville’s vocal contest, and an expanded Kid Zone complete with face painting, a coloring contest and hands-on craft projects.
In addition to cars and motorcycles lining Main Street, crafters and area businesses will be selling their wares. Local shops and restaurants will be open to visitors looking for some local flavors.
Regional event organizers count on the support of neighborhood businesses for sponsorships, volunteers and donations. These events make our hometowns vibrant and fun, as well as invite others to enjoy our quality of life.
This will be the second year for Dr. Len Hart’s office to participate in Hogs N’ Hot Rods. Office Manager Shelley Hayes said their booth selling sunglasses and other products was a big success and a great way to market their business to residents both old and new.
Community involvement is paramount to Dr. Hart. He cares about the Collinsville community and his patients’ vision health. He has owned and operated Primary Eye Care in Collinsville for 34 years, maintaining many of his patients for decades. Since opening his practice, he has been in the same location at 1103 W. Center St., across the street from the post office. He is Collinsville’s “hometown eye doctor.”
Primary Eye Care offers a full range of optometric services, including a full dispensary, extensive and thorough eye exams, and a huge variety of contact lenses and frame options. Frame lines range from bargain friendly to high end and include Michael Kors, Ray Ban, Vera Bradley, Harley Davidson, Kenneth Cole, Converse, Fat Heads, and Wiley X.
The practice maintains the most up-to-date technology, and Dr. Hart and his staff continually further their education through training, seminars and obtaining new certifications. Dr. Hart also works closely with ophthalmologists when patients need referrals for cataract, Lasik and other surgeries. All pre- and post- operative appointments are performed by Dr. Hart.
Dr. Hart is Oklahoma born and bred and was raised in Woodward. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and then the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where he obtained his Doctorate of Optometry degree in 1980. While at SCO, Dr. Hart made humanitarian eye care trips to Costa Rica and Haiti. He holds licenses in Oklahoma and Texas, and is one of the first optometrists to receive laser certification. In 2011, he passed the certification examination to become one of the first 270 optometrists in the nation to become Board Certified and a Diplomate in the American Board of Optometry.
Dr. Hart has been the Chamber of Commerce President in addition to holding numerous other positions in the community. Dr. Hart and his wife, Pam, have two children, Ryan and Valerie.
