Another year has come and gone, and it’s already time for the Rogers County Fair again. Though longtime residents of the area know what to expect every September, there are many new faces who are just beginning to learn about all Claremore and the surrounding area has to offer. “Last year was one of our biggest years with close to twenty-five thousand people,” said Wendy Woody, Marketing Manager for Visit Claremore. “It has steadily grown every year.”
The free-to-attend fair begins Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Claremore EXPO Center where attendees can enjoy the outside carnival from 6-10 p.m., and indoor vendor booths. Stay until dark on Thursday to enjoy the annual fireworks show that kicks off the fair. The vendor booths will be available to view until Saturday. On Sunday, the last day of the fair, only the carnival will be open. It will operate 1-5 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.
In addition to the fun carnival and variety of booths to shop, the county fair will also have competitions and exhibits featuring pigs, horses, poultry, rabbits, cattle, sheep, and goats.
“My favorite part is the barn aspect of the fair,” Woody said. “Because the kids work so hard for a year on their animals and then this is where they shine.”
The winning animals will be auctioned at the Premium Sale on Monday, Sept. 18, where many local businesses come out to support the kids. Though it can’t be announced just yet, Woody does want attendees to know something new is coming to the fair this year–so be on the lookout. The 2023 Rogers County Fair commemorative poster can be purchased for $10, and prior years for $5. Any photographer wanting to book a session with a client at the fair will need to obtain a photography pass due to liability insurance. They can be obtained by going to rogerscountyfair.com/vendors.
