Consignors typically make 65 percent of sales from their merchandise, while those who consign and volunteer make 70 percent. Consignors also have the advantage of creating their own prices for items no longer being used around the house. With better returns than most consignment shops can offer and far less hassle than a garage sale, consignors are able to take all their items in one day and choose to pick up or donate items that don’t sell.

According to Karen, the prices and selection for shoppers is unrivaled, and they can find an entire season’s worth of items in one stop. “We have families that come to our sales twice each year and walk out with everything they need for their children in just a few hours. You can’t do that anywhere else for even close to our prices. It’s just good for everyone involved,” says Karen.

Items available include gently-used children’s, junior’s and maternity clothing in addition to baby equipment, household furniture, software, videos, toys and much more. “If it has to do with children, we probably have it. And it’s only going to cost you about a third of what you pay at the mall,” explains Karen.

In addition to benefiting sellers and buyers, the JBF sale will also profit area communities through donations to the Bixby Community Center. “We charge a $3 admission the first day, and that goes to benefit our charity.”
