Shoppers enjoy the variety of plants at last year’s Herb & Plant Festival, hosted each year by the Jenks Garden Club.
Saturday, April 25 is Herb & Plant Day in Jenks, America. The Jenks Herb & Plant Festival is widely anticipated as the official signal of the start of spring. The fun begins at 8 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m. in the heart of downtown Jenks.
Main Street literally turns green from the long line of booths brimming over with hundreds of flats of herbs of every variety, vegetables of all kinds – especially tomatoes – to get your garden started, flowers, shrubs and trees, garden decorations, and all the essentials. You’ll also find vendors selling Oklahoma wine, home décor, jewelry, arts and crafts, birdhouses, bath and body products, and more. This one-day, free event brings thousands of spring shoppers into downtown Jenks each year.
Gardening experts will be on hand to answer all of your gardening questions for the season, and the vendors are always happy to talk with shoppers about their gardens and planting choices. Kiwanis will be flipping pancakes from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. just a short block up the street at First Methodist Church, 415 E. Main St. Several festival food vendors will be available for hungry shoppers, offering festival staples such as burgers, barbecue, funnel cakes, ice cream and fresh
lemonade.
Children are in for hands-on fun with the arts & crafts area and the First
Planting Experience booth. The train chugging around on the tracks and the Jenks fire truck are added thrills for kids.
Something the whole family can enjoy, and a first this year, “The Gathering Place” brings an interactive exhibit for all to explore and get a glimpse of what the new super park will be like. The 2015 festival is shaping up to be better than ever and is not to be missed.
