This Spring,the Bartlesville Area History Museum is proud to present: “Our Oily Past” on display from April 1st through July 1st, the exhibit takes visitors on a journey exploring the successes of H.V. Foster and how he turned visions of wealth into revolutionizing the nation’s energy industry by taking over the development of the oil and natural gas Blanket Leases which was then controlled by the business, the Indian Territory Illuminating Oil company (I.T.I.O). The exhibit will feature various artifacts from local oil companies like I.T.I.O and youngsters or the “young at heart” may enjoy our history of oil coloring station and gander through BAHMs turn of the century Nelson Carr One-Room School! Since 2007, the Tulsa Arts District has presented the community with rotating art displays as part of the monthly First Friday Art Crawl events. Every first Friday of the month, visitors can explore artwork inside galleries, studios and museums and catch a few live music performances or even an exciting fireworks display. As an added bonus, art crawlers can take advantage of free museum and gallery admission while shopping later than normal business hours would allow. Hit the district early for dinner, or stay a little later for a craft cocktail best enjoyed on an outdoor patio.

Come to the Grand River Dam to watch the spectacular Grand Lake Fireworks in Disney. Spend the day taking in the sights, take a tour of the dam, swim, camp and enjoy the lake by boat. At dusk, make your way to Cherokee Area at Grand Lake State Park and enjoy this free fireworks show over the lake. Grand Lake Fireworks will take place between the two spillways on the Grand River Dam on Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, and the Grand River Dam parking lot at Langley will be open for people to park and enjoy the show. Jiji Coul is a Tulsa-based artist who specializes in oil paints and natural materials, and often repurposes items to give them a second life. She expresses her creativity by exploring themes of self-perception and inspires herself daily by embracing activities that challenge and scare her. Jiji also teaches private art lessons, fostering connections with people of all ages to help them navigate life creatively.

Embark on a whimsical journey with mixed media artist Kaci Burr, where literary worlds come alive through the enchanting art of crafting book nook dioramas. This camp encourages creativity and storytelling, offering a unique hands-on experience that combines literature and visual arts. Kaci Burr has been an artist, instructor, and event organizer in the Tulsa area for nearly a decade. Her preferred mediums are preserved insects, taxidermy specimens, and miniatures. Explore the fascinating world of plant-powered music and sound painting with local music recording artist Mark Kuykendall. Campers delve into botanical beats and use natural materials to create sonic landscapes, blending art and science for an immersive musical experience. Mark Daniel Kuykendall is an Oklahoman, artist, and producer. His work is generally characterized by his production style of melding electronically manipulated field recordings with dusty attic 8mm films. Graduating with an audio engineering degree from Full Sail Real World Education in 2003, he returned to his home town of Tulsa, Oklahoma to begin his journey into the world of sound. Over the past decade he’s constructed “Wild Mountain Studios” in the Osage Hills, founded ambient music label “Unknown Tone Records” in 2011, and hosted numerous courses and taught at local art camps focusing on found sound, collage, and bio sensory feedback (plant music).

On the second Saturday of each month, drop by the farm to watch or participate as we fellowship and work hand crafts and fiber arts. Bring a craft to work on or come for a "free help session" with fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, or felting. Shepherd’s Cross offers weaving and fiber arts classes year-round, on an individual or group basis. Shepherd’s Cross is an accredited Agritourism facility and a Made in Oklahoma Company that processes Animal Welfare Approved fiber (that is chemical free, hormone free, free range, all natural). Shepherd’s Cross hosts a mini wool mill, processing wool from their own sheep, raised on site. Heart of the Shepherd is the non-profit organization (501-C3) that operates at the farm and establishes wool mills in remote, impoverished areas around the world. Heart of the Shepherd teaches Biblical references to the harvest, the animals, farming, and gardening. Shepherd’s Cross and their unique Country Craft Shop is open Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 – 5:30, year-round (closed some holidays).

The American Buckskin Registry Association is holding the annual World Championship Show at Tulsa Expo Square. All classes of riders compete in keyhole, showmanship, riding, horsemanship, barrel racing, pole bending and reining. Three sets of American Buckskin Registry Points are up for grabs during these triple-judged equestrian events. The World Championship Show is the premiere event for buckskins, duns, red duns, and grullas.

Think of this as an art appreciation course with a twist…and a clasp! Each week, participants will create a blended jewelry design inspired by a selected painting or sculpture form the Philbrook collection. The class will first visit the galleries for an interactive discussion in the presence of the artwork to learn more about the piece and the artist who created it. Drawing inspiration from color, theme, style, and more, participants will assemble a beaded personal accessory as an artistic reflection. No prior jewelry-making experience is needed, and all materials are provided. Participants will learn basic beading and wire-working skills as well as tool techniques and related vocabulary. The Starlight Jazz Orchestra will present “The Blue Marble.” The Starlight Band is not only one of Oklahoma’s oldest performing institutions, it’s also Oklahoma’s only professional concert band, and is proud to be one of the oldest in the nation, in league with Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, and New York City. Today’s Starlight Band boasts up to 50 musicians from Signature Symphony, Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, and Bartlesville Symphony, as well as music educators from area schools and universities, both active and retired. Approximately 20 outstanding jazz musicians make up the Starlight Jazz Orchestra, and over the years our conductors have included such local legends as George Brite, Jimmie Saied, and L. Dale Barnett.

Nowhere in the world of equestrian sport will you find more spine-tingling action than in the reined cow horse arena. The finely tuned equine athletes will dazzle you with their athleticism, cow sense, courage, and finesse. The limited aged events in the National Reined Cow Horse Association are judged in herd work, rein work and cow work. While the ancillary horse show classes—hackamore, two-rein, and bridle—are judged in rein work and cow work only.

Tulsa Children’s Summer Theatre Presents Seussical, The Musical Tulsa Community College’s Children’s Summer Theatre and TCC Theatre presents Seussical, The Musical July 25, 26, 27 at 8pm, July 28th 2pm on the PACE Main Stage at Tulsa Community College Southeast. Seussical the Musical is written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, and directed by Mark Frank. The Music Director is Martha Beaty and the Choreography is Jennifer Andrasko. The set designer is Aaron Kennedy. Other designers include costume designs by Emily Westerfield, sound by Ally Hardsaw, lighting design by Stephanie Stone, properties design by Moriah Jestus, and hair and make-up design by Sarah Saltzberg. The production stage managers are Stephanie Stone and Jenna Soltis. The cast consists of forty young actors ages 6-17. Seussical the Musical brings to life the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss, combining characters and stories from several of his beloved books. The story follows Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing a tiny community called Whoville, home to the WHO’s. As Horton faces ridicule and disbelief from the other animals in the Jungle of Nool, he vows to protect the WHO’s, including their spirited representative, JoJo. Along the way, Horton encounters other familiar characters like the mischievous Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, and Mayzie La Bird. Through a series of adventures and challenges, Horton learns about friendship, loyalty, and the power of believing in oneself and others. Seussical the Musical celebrates the imagination, resilience, and importance of believing in the unseen. It reminds audiences of all ages that even the smallest voice can make an enormous difference and that true kindness and acceptance come from understanding and embracing our differences. With its vibrant characters and infectious music, the musical encourages us to cherish our individuality and to always stand up for what is right, no matter how unconventional it may seem. Ultimately, "Seussical" is a heartwarming journey that inspires us to see the wonder in our world and the potential for magic in every person and every speck of dust. Slamboree welcomes spectators and car enthusiasts out to enjoy the sights and sounds of one of the Midwest's largest car shows.
