Davis Harris Jr. and David Harris Sr. of Black Hat Cleaning Services.
Black Hat Cleaning Services founder David Harris started his business in 1977. The company is family owned and operated. “When you have us come to your home or business to perform one of our cleaning services, it will be a member of the family doing the work,” says David. Serving the entire Tulsa metro area, Black Hat provides chimney cleaning and repair, air duct cleaning, and dryer vent cleaning and repair. “We enjoy helping keep your homes safe and clean,” says David.
Dryer vents become “linty” with use, David explained, and not only limit the dryer’s efficiency, but may become a fire hazard. When do you know if it’s time to have lint removed from your dryer’s vent system? “When you have to run laundry through more than one drying cycle, it’s time to have the vents cleaned,” David explains. “It will improve drying efficiency while keeping your home safer.”
David says the average six-room home carries 40 pounds of dirt and dust a year. The air you breathe makes its way through return air and supply ducts. When air vents become dirty, dusty, and even clogged or contaminated, they may make us more susceptible to allergies and infections. A dirty system could cause unpleasant odors and higher utility bills. David recommends that air ducts be cleaned every three years.
Summer is a great time to have chimneys cleaned. Don’t put it off until the last minute when you begin using it again. Clean your chimney now, enjoy the summer, and use your fireplace without worry when colder weather returns. David recommends that you have your chimney cleaned after each three to four ricks of wood. “People who keep their homes in good condition do so by staying on top of recommended maintenance services,” said David.
Take a moment and go online to the Black Hat website, www.blackhatnow.com. You will find some helpful suggestions to obtain cleaner air, better health, and lower utility bills for your home. There are also some effective products available for use in your home to help keep it cleaner and healthier.
According to David, you should not use chlorine bleach to kill mold or to disinfect moldy areas in your home. “Chlorine bleach is neither effective nor a long-lasting killer of mold and mold spores. Bleach only changes the color of mold and waters its roots, something you don’t want to do. Bleach is 90 percent water, one of the main contributors to the growth of harmful bacteria and mold. It can actually contribute to the regrowth and regeneration of mold and bacteria at a more rapid rate.”
When you visit the website, you will see some findings about the new H.E.L.P. Technology that reduces biofilm buildup, making surfaces easier to clean with no microbial food sources. Black Hat is a local licensed provider of this product.
When you’re interested in obtaining a price quote for any of the cleaning services provided by Black Hat, you can usually get your quote over the phone. Provide them with the number of vents you have in your home or office (both supplies and returns). They will give you a quote over the phone with no hidden charges. When Black Hat arrives at the scheduled time to provide their services, they will do another count of the vent openings before work begins, just to make sure you were accurate on the count. It’s easy to miss a couple. And you do want them all cleaned. If you’ve miscounted, the price will be adjusted for approval before work begins.
