Dawn Seing

For someone who has been an entrepreneur most of her adult life, becoming a realtor wasn’t that far of a stretch. “I’ve always been a barterer,” says Dawn Seing “So real estate seemed like a very natural progression.”

Dawn had already been through real estate school some years ago as moral support for a friend but decided at that time it wasn’t what she wanted to do. Instead she sold businesses for a while. Then by chance while traveling with another friend, who was also a realtor, was told again, you should really get into this business. You are a natural at selling. I thought about it and when I returned home from that trip I enrolled again in the real estate classes. Which had gone from 45 hours to 90 hours but I stuck it out. Fast forward 19 years, I’ve been selling homes for 10 of those at McGraw REALTORS and my most recent success has been obtaining my Brokers License.

Living in Oklahoma for the past 37 plus years and most of those in Broken Arrow has given Dawn the expertise to help families buy and sell their homes. “I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people figure out what they want in a home “the real nuts and bolts,” explains Dawn. After buyers give her a list of their wants and needs in a home, Dawn discusses what sorts of things on those lists that they’d be willing to live without and what things they absolutely must have. I also realize that often times the clients don’t know the answers to these questions themselves until we actually get out there and look at a few homes. I really look and listen for what they’re telling me verbally and non-verbally, says Dawn. She adds that it’s important to pick up on their hobbies and what they do in their spare time because these things can play a big part in what is important in a home.

Technology has definitely changed the real estate industry, but Dawn feels like it’s forced the business and the people in it to become more educated, savvy and creative. Home buyers do their own research before they even contact a real estate agent, which benefits everyone in the long run.

Dawn prides herself as the “hat lady” realtor for several reasons. Her saying is, “I may wear many hats, but I’m never too busy for a chat.” It’s literal, because Dawn always wears a hat. She feels it takes her back to a time when etiquette and manners were significant and she wants to remind her clients that she holds herself to that higher standard. Figuratively she wears many hats as well. Besides real estate, she is active with the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce, Broken Arrow Wine, Eats & Easels, which benefits Broken Arrow Neighbors, Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful, Ballroom Dancers of Tulsa, Leadership Broken Arrow and the Recycling Committee of Broken Arrow. In addition, she is an alumni of the Citizen Police Academy and the Masters Academy. You can see why one of the first words people use to describe Dawn is “energetic”.

Helping people is what real estate is all about, according to Dawn. “My clients set my schedule. I do block time for my family, but it’s not unusual for me to meet a client at 9PM after they get off work, or on Christmas or Thanksgiving Day. I always say, if the seller will let us in, I’ll show it.”
