Fulfilling their love for child and family photography, Mike and Valerie Edwards opened Masterpiece Studio in November of 2007.
Masterpiece Studio of Owasso owners Mike and Valerie Edwards have a passion for photographing children and families. But, the products they create are much more than just portraits. They are truly works of art.
Mike was born and raised in Tulsa and has always had a passion for photography. In both high school and college, he was on his schools’ yearbook committees. He was a photographer for a local newspaper and was employed by a local studio doing portrait photography as he worked his way through college. His degree was in marketing, and he also studied photography.
Spending years in the field of telecommunications, Mike never abandoned his love for photography, especially that of child and family portraiture. In 2001, he made the decision to create his own future and began study under the mentorship of a master photographer in Michigan. According to Mike, “This was a great learning experience for me, as I constantly honed my art, skills and imagination while photographing the children of friends. Fortunately we were at an age when we, and most of our friends, had young children.”
Mike then saw the portraiture works of art created by Cindy Baxter of West Virginia, who had built her well-known business specializing in child and family photography. Mike explains, “There are hundreds of places you can go to have nice pictures taken of your children, but there are only a handful of studios in the country where you can truly get a masterpiece.” In Mike’s opinion, Cindy Baxter is the best of the best. Her children’s portraits are of the highest heirloom quality.
Masterpiece Studio of Owasso owners Mike and Valerie Edwards produce photographic works of art of children and families.
The Edwardses made a monumental decision, and Mike began three years of study under Cindy. In November of 2007, their dream became reality when they opened Masterpiece Studio of Owasso. When you first see samples of their photographic art, you realize that they don’t just snap a few photos in front of pull-down screens. They capture a child’s personality within a quality theatrical setting. The picture tells a story and celebrates a moment in the passage of childhood. The scenes are very realistic in every detail and create a sense of depth and realism. Beaches have real sand and trees have real swings.
When your child is being photographed, you have the choice of dressing them in custom designed apparel of the highest quality from the studio, or they may wear their own clothing. Many of the settings from which you may choose for your child’s portrait, however, will work best with the meticulously made clothing articles created specifically for that set. The Edwardses say that the children featured in their portraits appear happy, relaxed and natural because they become genuinely engaged within the enchantingly delightful sets, often with live props such as ducklings or bunnies.
You may visit the Masterpiece Studio website to see samples of their work and find out more about special offerings.
