Take a step back to the 16th century, into the Golden Age of England with Queen Elizabeth I! Over 400 performers and artisans are present at one of Oklahoma's premier annual events, the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival. Hosted by the Castle of Muskogee, this event features a royal court, jousters and jesters, magicians, musicians and minstrels as well as many craftspeople and artisans. Living history demonstrations, live performances and great period food rounds out an excellent festival. The festival runs every weekend in May, through June 4, and is also open on Monday, May 29th, Memorial Day.

This 3-week workshop will be via Zoom on April 26th and in person on the OSU-Tulsa campus with a Zoom option on May 3rd and May 10th from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. In this class, we'll explore local subjects (Oklahoma, broadly and Tulsa, more particularly) that can serve as inspirations for lively history writing. Students will learn basic historical methodologies through fun activities, while also focusing on the craft of writing and editing. At the end of the workshop, students will have produced either: A). A 10-15 page popular history article ready for submission to a literary magazine or B). A half-hour script for a history-themed podcast. Students do not need any background in history or journalism. We welcome genealogists, memoir writers, community activists, and truth-seekers of all persuasions. The only requirement is curiosity about Oklahoma themes and issues. Registraiton will close at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24th.

Since 2007, the Tulsa Arts District has presented the community with rotating art displays as part of the monthly First Friday Art Crawl events. Every first Friday of the month, visitors can explore artwork inside galleries, studios and museums and catch a few live music performances or even an exciting fireworks display. As an added bonus, art crawlers can take advantage of free museum and gallery admission while shopping later than normal business hours would allow. Dine on authentic German fare, listen to live polka music and watch as skilled folk dancers grace the stage at the annual Germanfest in Tulsa. Held at the German-American Society of Tulsa (GAST) Event Center, Germanfest is a fun-filled, family-friendly festival that invites all ages out to celebrate and learn about German culture. Entertainment will include polka band and folk dancers. Snack on polish or smoked bratwurst piled high with sauerkraut on a bun or try the savory schnitzel sandwich. The three-day event will also feature numerous children's activities and the traditional crowning of the May Queen, a German ritual dating back to pagan times. Tulsa Ballet will close its 2022-2023 season with the Signature Series, a triple-bill program featuring three choreographers with three stunning pieces. A favorite event for antique and vintage collectors since 1972, this massive flea market is sure to hold something that catches your eye. Whether looking for rare records, handmade jewelry, special books or primitive furniture, be sure to peruse the offerings at the Tulsa Flea Market and see what discoveries await.
Watch for buffalo, elk, deer or longhorn cattle on this trail ride that covers approximately 15 miles of scenic terrain on the famous Woolaroc Ranch. Bring your own horse and join the group for a day-long ride over 3,700 acres of ranch land. Hidden away amongst the beauty of the rolling Osage Hills, the country retreat of oilman Frank Phillips will open its gates to riders looking to explore native terrain that is rarely seen by the general public. The Woolaroc Spring Trail Ride includes overnight primitive camping on Friday prior to the ride, a morning and afternoon guided trail ride and admission to Woolaroc. The trail ride fee also includes lunch and dinner on Saturday. Riders must provide their own horses and gear. While not on the trail, participants can enjoy all that Woolaroc has to offer, including the on-site lodge and museum, featuring a premier Western art collection, one of the world's finest collections of Colt firearms and an extensive collection of Navajo blankets. Registration for the Woolaroc Spring Trail Ride will begin on Friday, with current Coggins papers required upon arrival. Arrival and check-in time on Saturday is scheduled between 7am and 9am, while the trail ride will begin promptly at 9:30am. Total time in the saddle will be approximately five hours. All participants are encouraged to bring a camera, weather-appropriate clothing, a water canteen, rain poncho, sunscreen and insect repellent. Lunch typically consists of a sandwich, bag of chips and a cookie. Dinner typically consists of smoked meats, potato salad, baked beans and dessert. Lunches for non-riders are available by reservation only. Camping will be available Saturday night, additional charges apply. Pre-registration for the Woolaroc Spring Trail Ride is requested.

Get your wheels turning by participating in the Cop Land Classic Bike Ride to honor fallen officers in Tulsa this May. Choose between five Cop Land Classic bike ride routes, the "67 to Life," "Escape Route 57," "Deferred Sentance 44," "The Felony 31" and "Misdemeanor 15" for a ride length that fits your style best. Take the "Early Parole" shortcut to avoid climbing Cincinnati Hill if you wish. Those looking to show their support but skip the ride can be virtual riders and purchase the Cop Land Classic Bike Ride shirt. You can also participate by choosing the "Fleeing Felons" option, a protected peloton escorted by OHP motorcycles. Hang out at base camp after the ride to enjoy food, drinks, a raffle drawing and fellowship at the Tulsa Police Officers' Memorial. This year's raffle prize includes a five-day cabin stay near Como, Colorado, autographed NFL helmets from Steve Largent and James Conner, various restaurant gift cards and much more. Same day registration opens at 7am. Rides begin at 8am.

Make your way to Claremore for all the excitement of the annual Will Rogers Stampede PRCA Rodeo. Rodeo events include bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, mutton bustin' for the kids, rodeo clowns and a dance following the nightly performance. See area cowboys compete in steer wrestling, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and more. Vendors will be on-site to sell Western wear and goods to the crowds. Pick up a cowboy hat and secure a spot in the stands for the Will Rogers Stampede PRCA Rodeo, an action-packed event you won't want to miss. Rodeo queens will also be on hand to lead the opening ceremonies. Starts at 7:00p.m each night.
