Mayor Debra Wimpee
Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee has been invited to attend the 2024 Delegation of U.S. Women Mayors to Switzerland, April 21-27, 2024. Mayor Wimpee is one of nine mayors selected by the Embassy of Switzerland in the United States.
With the theme, "Shaping Urban Landscapes for a Sustainable Future," the mayors will strategize ways to improve sustainable infrastructure, the future of cities, economic promotion, public health and safety, urban governance, and women in politics. The trip is paid for by the Swiss Visitor Agency (Presence Switzerland), and the program fosters best practices for urban development among current leaders.
"I am impressed by your service to the people of Broken Arrow," said Jacques Pitteloud, Ambassador of Switzerland. "In particular, your focus on economic development, community engagement, and public security demonstrates an awareness of current and future challenges and the ability to meet them. This is why I believe the planned program will be enriching and beneficial to you."
Mayor Wimpee will meet with representatives of the executive and legislative branches at the municipal level, visit cutting-edge Swiss research institutions, and learn from preeminent international organizations shaping the 21st-century global environment.
In addition to Mayor Wimpee, the 2024 Delegation of U.S. Women Mayors to Switzerland participants include: Mayor Barbara Buffaloe, Columbia, Missouri, Mayor Jane Castor, Tampa, Florida, Mayor Remy Drabkin, McMinnville, Oregon, Mayor Janifer Kulmann, Thorton, Colorado, Mayor Nadia Mohamed, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Albany, New York, Mayor Acquanetta Warren, Fontana, California, and Mayor Lily Wu, Wichita, Kansas.
