It was a family endeavor during last year’s Spring Break at Will Rogers Memorial Museum as fathers helped create
paper airplanes for a launching.
Spring Break 2016 activities will be at both the Will Rogers Memorial Museum and Birthplace Ranch this year March 14-18. Exciting events are being planned for Monday through Friday, said Bart Taylor, Museum assistant curator for education.
Programs will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Claremore Museum, and Tuesday and Thursday at the Birthplace Ranch. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special hours are set for Wednesday workshops.
The following is a list of activities: Monday will be behind the scenes at the Museum. Tuesday is behind the scenes at the Birthplace Ranch including house and barn. Wednesday is Workshop Day at Claremore Museum. Cost for the workshops will be $10 per child for an hour and a half of creative writing, poster design with Studio B Artworks, and exhibit making. Workshop hours are 10:30 a.m. to noon, 1 to 3:30 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday will be back at the Ranch for a Living History Day. Friday is Fun Day and Mid-Afternoon Frolic. The morning will be filled with old-fashioned games, including a paper airplane flying contest at 11 a.m.
Friday will be a special Food Truck Friday for those who want to eat on the grounds overlooking Claremore. Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Mid-Afternoon Frolic Talent show will be presented at 2 p.m. in the Museum Theatre. Open to 17 and under, there will be cash prizes. Space is limited.
Remember, children 17 and under are admitted to the Museum free. Admission is also free for Will Rogers Museum members. Ranch admission is by donation.
