Kurt Schrader, owner, Top Dog PDR, and Randy Pruitt, owner, Pruitt’s Auto Collision.
Pruitt’s Auto Collision is the only locally-owned auto body repair shop in Owasso. Liz and her husband, Randy, established their collision repair shop about a decade ago in Owasso. Located just off Highway 169, their goal is to provide honest and affordable service they can be proud of. Despite its rapid growth, Owasso is still a small city at heart. The Pruitts, who live less than two miles from their shop, know that reputation matters.
“I run into people all the time,” says Liz. “We eat at the same restaurants, shop at the same stores and attend school functions right alongside our customers.”
In an industry dominated by large insurance and automotive companies, car owners get frustrated. They don’t always have the time or energy to research where to take their car for repairs. The Pruitts want car owners to remember their name. Whenever possible, the Pruitts work with locals to deliver superior service you can trust.
One example of how the Pruitts team with reputable locals is in their Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) service. Kurt Schrader, owner of Top Dog Paintless Dent Repair, has been in business in Owasso for 22 years. “I’ve been doing this about as long as it’s been around,” says Schrader.
He explains two basic methods in the PDR process. The location and severity of the dent determines which approach taken. The first is to get behind the dent and push it out. The second option is to pop out the dent with a combination of hot glue and a specialized tool. In both approaches, the result saves time and money. PDR is effective in repairing hail damage and some door dings. If it turns out Schrader cannot repair the damage, he and Randy Pruitt work as a team. The teamwork goes both ways. They will often trade back and forth on a single car, depending on the type of damage. This approach passes on even more savings to the customer. Just as one needs the best tool for the job, sometimes it’s best to go with the right man for the job.
Paint gets brittle in the cold. So, temperature plays a big role in repairs. The Pruitts’ climate-controlled shop makes his job easier. Schrader enjoys his partnership with the Pruitts. Their work is complimentary and benefits the customers most of all. “And, we’re good friends,” adds Schrader. He’s known the Pruitts since they opened their shop. He lives even closer to their headquarters. Schrader laughs, “I even have a key to the shop. I’m the first one to get a call if the alarm goes off, since I’m closer!” Such trustworthiness and friendship is evident in the way Schrader and the Pruitts interact.
Schrader is from Bartlesville, but has called Owasso home for about 20 years. His son, Kelby, is a freshman at Owasso High School. His wife, Michelle, works at Mills Elementary as a teacher’s assistant in kindergarten. He enjoys attending school football games and working with the FFA. Contact Kurt Schrader at Top Dog PDR at (918) 440-5856. If you happen to run into the Pruitts or the Schraders around town, don’t be shy. Ask them about making an appointment to repair your car’s damage. Stop staring at hail damage from the last storm. Stop avoiding the memory of that runaway shopping cart in the parking lot. If you find yourself in an accident, remember to call your friends with the body shop. The Pruitts will make sure you’re completely satisfied with their work.
