Writing Unforgettable Characters | 4-week workshop Starts October 11 from 7-9 p.m. and meets weekly through November 1 Registration required at https://bit.ly/3qMpCHi In this workshop we’ll practice techniques from the world of improv, sketch writing, and acting that are helpful for writing unique characters into scripts and sketches, or for use in such stage formats as a one-person show, stand-up, drag, impressions, etc. There will be a focus on persona and POV. You’ll end our time together having received feedback on at least one character that will bring something special to your project, leaving readers and audiences eager to read and see more. Bringing together eleven acclaimed landscape and wildlife artists from across the country, "The Woolaroc Retrospective Exhibit" will feature an impressive array of works. As you tour this collection, you'll see the stirring works of painters William Alther, Thomas Blackshear II, Tom Browning, Scott Burdick, Glenn Dean, Jane DeDecker, Ralph Ober, Dan Ostermiller, Roseta Santiago, Mian Situ and Daniel Sprick. Comic Book Writing | 4-week workshop Starts November 8 from 7-9 p.m. and meets weekly through December 6 Registration required at https://bit.ly/46cwxsn In this course, you’ll develop and receive feedback on a short comic book script, learning techniques for shaping interesting characters and telling a great story visually. About the instructor Tvli Jacob, a member of the Choctaw Nation, is a filmmaker, comic book writer, and researcher, serving as Clinical Assistant Professor at OSU Center for Health Sciences. Having worked with tribes throughout the United States and Canada, Dr. Jacob has used media content through community-based participatory research media methods. He has collaborated on several creative projects, including film shorts (American Indian Graffiti: This Thing Life, Ronnie BoDean) and the graphic novel Rez Detectives. Second Saturday Architecture Tour: Stained Glass Tour – Downtown Churches Take a fun and educational walking tour through downtown Tulsa and other historical local sites during Second Saturday Architecture Tours, hosted by the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture. These monthly walking tours will give you an insightful look into the exciting architecture and prestigious collections that you may pass by every day. Sites include various Art Deco buildings, Will Rogers High School, the Tulsa Underground, University of Tulsa, and The Blue Dome District. This month's tour will focus on the ecclesiastic architecture of some of the city's churches and the history depicted in the colored glass windows.
