American Girl, LLC (AG) has again chosen The Junior League of Tulsa, Inc. (JLT) to present its annual fashion show fundraiser. JLT will present six fashion shows and invites girls, along with their friends and families, to share in the AG experience during the weekend of October 8-10 at JLT Headquarters, located at 3633 S. Yale Ave. in Tulsa. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit JLT and its community projects.

“This is our seventh season to be privileged to present this entertaining and educational show that gives an opportunity for young girls to learn how American girls just like them have used fashion throughout history to express their unique style and personality,” says JLT President Cassie Barkett. Tulsa-area celebrities will emcee each of the six fashion shows, and high school girls will narrate. “The American Girl dolls, books and magazine create an impact on girls to become individuals that are confident, educated and wholesome. With over 14 million dolls and 123 million books sold since 1986, AG presents fashion shows to help spread these ideals to girls across our community,” says BJ Weintraub, chair of the AG Fashion Show.

“Girls with confidence and sparkle make the show exciting for the audience,” says Weintraub. “The girls love that their outfits replicate the historic or contemporary American Girl doll they hold.”

JLT will host six opportunities to see the fashion show, beginning with the opening night Patron Party Fashion Show Friday, October 8 at 7 p.m. During the Patron Party, guests will enjoy an elegant dinner and participate in a silent auction. Tickets for opening night are $50 each.

Other show times are: Saturday, October 9 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and Sunday, October 10 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday shows are $30 for general assigned seating and $35 for premium assigned seating closest to the stage. Each show includes tea party-style refreshments, AG party favors, drawings for door prizes, intermission modeling opportunities for girls in the audience, and appearances by special guests throughout the weekend.

Additional features of this fundraiser will consist of a Doll Hair Salon, at which all AG dolls brought by their owners can have a fresh hairdo just for the show, and a souvenir shop. JLT will also conduct raffle drawings of many exciting AG dolls and accessories, including a Lanie Holland doll, American Girl’s “2010 Girl of the Year.” For tickets or more information, please call (918) 663-6100 or visit www.jltulsa.org.
