On June, 21st, Pathways Adult Learning Center held their annual prom for adults with intellectual disabilities who participate in their program. This wonderful night was held at the Silo Event Center, and offered a unique and inclusive opportunity for individuals to dress up, dance, and create lasting memories.
The prom has always provided a supportive and celebratory environment where students can feel loved and valued. Through this event, Pathways seeks to highlight its 15-year dedication to enhancing the quality of life for adults with intellectual disabilities and create a space where everyone feels encouraged to express themselves.
Students enjoyed a glamorous evening complete with a red carpet entrance, a DJ playing their favorite tunes, and a beautiful atmosphere. In addition to dancing the night away, the night included a photo booth, a karaoke station, a delicious meal thanks to local restaurants and the Civitan Club of Broken Arrow, and a special sensory break room with crafts and games that made the night special.
“Our prom is always a magical event. It’s one of many ways we can help foster a vibrant, supportive community for our incredible students. The fact that we can celebrate together like this each year is a testament to the generous commitment of this community to inclusivity. What better way to celebrate 15 years of creating community and enriching lives!” said Monique Scraper, Executive Director at Pathways. Everyone was committed to ensuring that prom was a safe, fun, and memorable experience for all their students. With appropriate support and accommodations in place, this event provided a welcoming and inclusive environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities to celebrate in style.
