Shoppers enjoy a variety of garden-related vendors at the Jenks Herb & Plant Festival.
The 16th annual Jenks Herb & Plant Festival will be held Saturday, April 28 in downtown Jenks, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This one-day, free event brings thousands of shoppers into the Jenks area each year. Chosen as the 2010 Governor’s Conference on Tourism Redbud Award winner for “Outstanding Event,” the reviewing judges remarked, “This festival has something for everyone.”
Over 150 booths filled downtown Jenks last year, with outstanding herbs and plants of every type and variety. Growers from near and far will bring their very best products to this year’s festival also. New vendors are added every year. The Jenks Garden Club hosts the event; check their website at www.jenksgardenclub.com for the most recent updates.
A sampling of the vendors at this year’s festival includes wine, roses, outdoor furniture, garden clothing, African baskets, trough gardening, potting carts, daylilies, and garden art such as metal sculpture, glass art and bird houses. Creek County Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions concerning needs you may have with various plants and herbs.
Be sure to drop off your purchases at the Drop & Shop Center, where they will be protected by volunteers and ready for you to pick up when you have finished enjoying the festival.
A large variety of food vendors will be offering such delicious options as burgers, turkey legs, corndogs, funnel cakes, popcorn, German sausage and lemonade. Tables and chairs are available for diners. Also, plenty of port-a-potties will be provided for your convenience.
Come early and enjoy breakfast; the Kiwanis will be serving pancakes and sausage at First Methodist Church at 5th and Main between 7 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
You will also want to bring a comfortable chair so you can rest and enjoy some great entertainment at the Reasor’s Festival Stage, where you can hear great bluegrass music and Jenks School choirs.
The Jenks Herb & Plant Festival will be located on Main Street between 1st and 3rd Streets and onto “A” Street.
