Dr. Mallory Spoor-Baker says that two of her most popular procedures at Advanced Cosmetic Medicine are the Pearl and Titan.
A new year is nearly upon us, and now is a prime time to begin making changes that will have you looking and feeling better than ever. Mallory Spoor-Baker, D.O., at Advanced Cosmetic Medicine in Tulsa helps patients achieve a more youthful, beautiful appearance – and the confidence that goes along with it – using a variety of treatments, including the Pearl and Titan procedures. The best part about these treatments? There is little to no downtime, so you’ll be looking great without a long wait.
“The Pearl treatment renews your skin’s surface and minimizes wrinkles, uneven texture and discoloration with only one or two treatments and minimal downtime,” says Dr. Spoor-Baker. The Pearl procedure combines the impact of resurfacing lasers with the gentleness and safety of non-invasive procedures to treat aging and sun-damaged skin and create a healthy, pearl-like glow.
The top layer of skin is treated with pulses of light in a preselected pattern. The laser simultaneously sends heat to the deeper layers of skin to provide longer-term benefits. A natural protective dressing forms on the skin to minimize downtime during the restorative process, and on day three or four, this natural skin will peel or slough off, revealing new, healthy, vibrant skin underneath. In a short time, patients will notice overall skin clarity, smoothness and softness.
With minimal “social” downtime, patients can continue normal daily activities. However, they may not wish to attend important social events because the face appears pink or red – resembling a mild sunburn – for those few days.
The Pearl treatment is not a painful process; it feels like a series of brief pinches. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 representing pain, most patients report the treatment feeling like a 2 or 3.
Some patients may require two treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients need only one treatment. Patients with light to medium skin tones and mild to moderate sun damage are the ideal candidates for Pearl.
Another excellent, quick option Dr. Spoor-Baker offers is the Titan skin tightening procedure. This treatment uses a safe infrared light to heat up the dermis below the skin’s surface. It breaks down existing collagen to help regenerate new collagen, making the skin tighter. Patients have been successfully treated on many areas of the body, but the most common areas treated are the jaw line, under the chin and the abdomen.
A single treatment produces very good results for most patients, but it is quite common to have three to five treatments over a few months. Dr. Spoor-Baker will advise you as to the number and frequency of Titan treatments recommended for optimal results.
Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling, but both should dissipate within a few hours, and patients report no discomfort during the procedure. “Titan can be used on all skin types, including tanned skin,” says Dr. Spoor-Baker.
