It's a new season at the Rose District Farmers Market starting April 1. This year's market will provide more opportunities to buy fresh local meats, produce, bread, and more two days a week—Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Tuesdays, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The City launched a Tuesday Market pilot program over the winter following multiple requests from customers and vendors. It was so successful that the market is expanding to both days every week!
SNAP benefits and the Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program will be available again this year for income-eligible shoppers. And new this year, the Rose District Farmers Market will officially become a Double Up Oklahoma Farmers Market.
The program permits EBT cardholders to purchase SNAP tokens and receive DUO tokens for every $1 spent in SNAP, up to $20 per day. Customers can redeem the Double Up Oklahoma (DUO) tokens on the following items:
The Rose District Farmers Market began in 2003 with 10 vendors but now has approximately 50 weekly regular vendors.
"Our market has grown substantially over the past three years, and we are adapting to the response by giving them additional days to shop and more ways to pay," said Farmers Market Facilitator Nicole Orcutt. "Our goal has always been to provide fresh, locally produced foods to the largest number of people we can."
