The annual Rooster Egg Hunt is a tradition dating back approximately 30 years in the Broken Arrow community. Formerly organized by the BA Chamber of Commerce, this popular pre-Rooster Days event is now organized by the Rotary Club of Broken Arrow. The Hunt, which brings recognition to the businesses sponsoring the contest, has an avid following of Egg Seekers.
The egg will be hidden in a publicly accessible location in Broken Arrow and will be packaged with instructions on how to contact the Rotary Club to authenticate the find.
Beginning May 1, 2023, this year, Bonus Clue Sponsor, J. David Jewelry, www.jdavidjewelry.com, will post the weekday clues first at 10 a.m., plus an exclusive Saturday clue available nowhere else. The Museum Broken Arrow www.brokenarrowmuseum.org and MetroMerch will post clues at 10:30 a.m. and Arts@302 at 11:00 a.m. each weekday. The Rotary Club of Broken Arrow and the BA Chamber will post the weekday clues at noon on their social media and websites. These clues will gradually reveal the location of the hidden Rooster Egg until it is found.
This year's Egg Artistry Sponsor is MetroMerch, and the Tulsa Glassblowing School, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization, has been commissioned to create a uniquely different Egg for this year. Just as Rotary commits to making a difference for good in the community, so does the Tulsa Glassblowing School with their mission to Empower self-esteem and promote positive change in the lives of vulnerable youth and adults within the Tulsa community through participation in the unique creative processes of hot glass art.
The Finder of the Rotary Rooster Egg will ride in the Rooster Day Parade on Saturday, May 20, and will receive the $1000 cash prize (plus a generous gift basket donated by local Broken Arrow merchants) afterwards on stage at the Rooster Days Festival in Central Park in Broken Arrow.
A representative from the Museum Broken Arrow will be present to receive the Rooster Egg as a donation to their collection of 28 wood, ceramic, and plastic Rooster Eggs, hand painted by various artists in the community.
Net proceeds from the sponsors donations will go right back into our community in the forms of grants and scholarships.
