School Is Back in Session

Summer break is over but the excitement of a fresh new school year has just begun. At Classroom Corner in Owasso, the familiar smell of new school supplies and the sound of excited chatter can be sensed as young shoppers, parents and educators discover one thing after another for classroom and home use.

Enjoying their second year in business, Classroom Corner owners Shelly Rogers and Jennifer Palmer offer unique specialty toys from educational brands such as Find It Games, ThinkFun, and Melissa & Doug. With a large variety of flashcards, workbooks, puzzles, strategy and logic games, hard-to-find puppets, and arts and crafts supplies, it’s easy to get excited about learning. One-of-a-kind gifts are also available, including manipulative toys by Learning Resources.

Now that the big kids are back in school, parents are looking for quality experiences for the little ones. Classroom Corner offers a variety of classes for newborns through seven-year-olds, right in the store classroom. Dubbed “Haley’s Love of Learning” classroom in memory of Jennifer’s daughter, Haley Palmer, the bright colorful room is the setting for Fridays with Miss Shelly and Kindermusik classes.

Fridays with Miss Shelly offer preschoolers and their parents a fun-filled time of stories, music and crafts. Miss Shelly leads the activities, and the children and parents go home with memories and mementos, but no mess. Classes are held at 9:30 a.m. for two to four year olds and at 1 p.m. for four to five year olds.

Kindermusik is a program new to the store, but well-established both across the United States and internationally. With more than 30 years of experience teaching children music and movement, the Kindermusik program offers children musical learning that involves language, motor and social skills, cognitive development, and emotional growth.  Stephanie Murphy will be teaching the classes for infants through seven-year-olds this fall.

If your child has a birthday coming up, don’t forget that Haley’s Classroom is also available for birthday parties. Shelly and Jennifer can serve as personal party planners and take care of everything from themed paper products and invitations to a group activity and take-home gift for each guest. They have a variety of themes to choose from that range from science to the “Ahh! Spa!” parties. Dinosaur, Scrapbooking, Princess Tea Party and several more are also available to choose from. They will even work with you on a custom theme if you have something in mind. Prefer to do it yourself? The room is available for rental as well and is perfect for story-time sessions, art classes and homeschool activities.

Your birthday child can also register for a birthday box to make it easy for friends to get the perfect gift. By choosing their favorite items to go in the box, the birthday boy or girl is sure to get just the things they want! Birthday boxes are a customer service provided by the store, whether or not the birthday party is being held there.

Classroom Corner carries a full line of teacher supplies including room décor, curriculum, resource materials and activity guides. Copy services and lamination up to 25 inches wide are also available. Shelly explained that while many stores charge for lamination by the square foot, Classroom Corner charges per running foot. “Our great price on laminating makes it much more affordable to protect teaching supplies and special documents.”

Classroom Corner is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and offers extended hours on Thursday evenings.
