SeniorLink supervisor Chelsea Edwards, News On 6 reporter Lori Fullbright and PACE intake manager Adrian Rolle will each be presenting at the 2019 Senior Safety and Lifestyle Fair.
LIFE Senior Services is excited to host the 2019 Senior Safety and Lifestyle Fair Tuesday, July 30 at the Exchange Center at Expo Square. For the past two years, the event has welcomed hundreds of exhibitors and presenters, plus thousands of seniors and family caregivers. This year promises to be even bigger and better than ever.
“We want Oklahoma seniors and family caregivers to feel safe, valued and appreciated. We are excited about partnering with Tulsa Police Department’s Senior Services Unit to put a spotlight on the organizations, programs and services that exist to help seniors stay active, involved and healthy. Our goal is to help seniors live their best life!” says Mike Fogle, LIFE Senior Services COO.
The event will feature more than 150 exhibitors offering information about active aging, caregiver support services, money management and investments, Medicare options and VA benefits, mental and behavioral health services, accessibility and rehabilitation services, durable medical equipment, travel clubs, housing, home health and so much more!
All attendees will receive a free copy of the brand-new 2019-2020 LIFE’s Vintage Guide to Housing & Services. The 250-page publication is northeast Oklahoma’s most comprehensive catalog of senior resources and home and community-based services. It also has articles helping families plan ahead, understand care options like adult day health and PACE, compare and evaluate housing options, and learn more about Medicare, VA Aid & Attendance and the ADvantage Medicaid Waiver program.
Enjoy a game of bingo at the Senior Safety and Lifestyle Fair.
The Senior Stage will feature educational presentations and entertainment throughout the day. News On 6 anchor Lori Fullbright will emcee as well as share her widely-acclaimed “Cons, Frauds and Scams” presentation. Other presenters include Dr. Jameca Price from OU Physicians, Wayne Blackmon from AARP Fraud Fighters and Tom McCloud from Clear-tone Hearing Aid Laboratories. Senior Stage entertainment will include Nashville recording artist James Robert Webb and drummers, pickers and dancers from LIFE’s Senior Centers.
From 9 a.m. to noon AARP Oklahoma is sponsoring a free drive-thru shredding event on the east side of the Exchange Center. Bring your old tax, medical and banking records, or even prescription tags and junk mail for safe, on-site destruction. Attendees are also encouraged to take advantage of OU Physicians’ free health screenings and “Ask the Doctor” booth. The Rx Take Back booth provides the perfect opportunity to bring in your expired or unneeded prescriptions and medications for safe disposal.
Plus, there will be many other activities to enjoy. Visit with Paw Pals therapy dogs and rescue pets from Lab Rescue OK and Animal Aid of Tulsa – you might even find your new best friend! Additionally, there will be bingo, door prizes, and free goodie bags for the first 500 people through the door starting at 8:30 a.m.
There is a pre-event continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. hosted by Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID), followed by “Protecting Medicare and You” with Ray Walker from OID. Space is limited, and reservations are required. Call (800) 763-2828 to reserve your spot.
We hope you will join us Tuesday, July 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Exchange Center at Expo Square. This event is free and will offer convenient parking lot shuttles.
More than 150 exhibitors will be providing helpful information.
