Since 2007, the Tulsa Arts District has presented the community with rotating art displays as part of the monthly First Friday Art Crawl events. Every first Friday of the month, visitors can explore artwork inside galleries, studios and museums and catch a few live music performances or even an exciting fireworks display. As an added bonus, art crawlers can take advantage of free museum and gallery admission while shopping later than normal business hours would allow. Hit the district early for dinner, or stay a little later for a craft cocktail best enjoyed on an outdoor patio.

The Cherokee National Holiday in Tahlequah celebrates the signing of the Cherokee Nation Constitution in 1839. This annual event is a celebration of Cherokee heritage and cultural awareness. The Cherokee National Holiday attracts visitors from across the United States as well as from around the world. The three-day holiday is full of activities for all ages, from traditional Native American games like cornstalk and blowgun shooting, marbles and stickball to tournaments in sports like basketball and softball. Many other events will take place during the Cherokee National Holiday, including a parade, children's events, a quilt show and a car show. Vendors will be on hand offering authentic Native American products such as food, artwork, pottery, blankets and other unique items. The highlights of the celebration will be the inter-tribal powwows, held on both Friday night and Saturday night.

Jana Jae Fiddle Camp & Music Festival Attend the Jana Jae Fiddle Camp and Music Festival and witness fiddlers of all levels and ages come together in a learning experience with master instructors and performers. Classes include demonstrations and instruction, as well as learning to play with groups and before an audience. All acoustic musicians are welcome. Other workshops presented are flat-pick guitar, back-up guitar, mandolin, cello and spoons. Enjoy this fun-filled weekend of learning, great entertainment and jamming with friends.This event will feature bluegrass music, swing and more. Bring the whole family and enjoy great food and great music. Learn from the best area musicians in individual and group sessions, then stick around for RV and tent camping, fishing and boating on Oklahoma's beautiful Grand Lake. The Jana Jae Fiddle Camp and Music Festival will also feature special appearances by fiddle groups, master fiddlers and top-contest fiddlers.

The Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival will feature traditional arts and crafts, handmade American Indian items on display and sporting tournaments. Visitors will also enjoy a 5K run and walk, as well as softball, basketball, cornhole and volleyball tournaments. The Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival is the place to be this Labor Day weekend. A great way to begin any day of the festival is by visiting the Choctaw Nation Museum. The museum holds many historical artifacts and information about the Choctaw culture and past, including actual objects that were carried across the Trail of Tears and interactive exhibits.

The Born & Raised Music Festival is a multi-day music extravaganza that features some of the top artists in Red Dirt, Outlaw, Southern rock and country music. Headliners for the 2023 festival include the Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Myers, Ryan Bingham, the Randy Rogers Band, Lukas Nelson, Gary Allan and Randy Houser.There will also be performances by Mike and the Moonpies, 49 Winchester, Flatland Cavalry, Them Dirty Roses, the Red Clay Strays, Katilin Butts, Kat Hasty, Holly Beth and Jamie Lin Wilson. Held in Midtown Tulsa at the GAST Center, this two-day event will feature a variety of paintings, sculptures, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, and more. Frightening Flash Fiction | 4-week workshop Starts September 26 from 7-9 p.m. and meets weekly through October 17 Registration required at https://bit.ly/44ut6Mc In anticipation of a special CPW Halloween open mic, this 4-week workshop will help participants practice their flash fiction skills while producing work imbued with a dark and mysterious edge. -Join us as we delve into the gothic worlds of vampires, zombies, werewolves, witches, ghosts, monsters, and more. - Each week, workshop participants will be given an optional writing prompt and a word-count limit. - The following week, we will read everyone's pieces during class and perform on-the-spot critiques to help authors revise their work in anticipation of the Halloween reading and possible publication. -Participants are encouraged to explore the gothic and horror genres in any way they see fit, whether this be a traditional, experimental, satirical, humorous, or post-modern approach. About the instructor Eric Howerton is a Teaching Associate Professor of English at OSU Stillwater, an avid hiker, skier, musician, gardener, hot sauce purveyor, and mushroom forager. Once again for 2023, the Broken Arrow Rose Festival is joining forces with Chalk It Up! An Art Festival to provide a spectacular weekend full of free family-friendly fun. The Festival is a celebration of Broken Arrow’s return to its 1920-50’s history as The City of Roses and our city’s passion for roses and the arts. Friday evening Sept 29, 5-8:30 pm & Saturday, Sept 30, 9 am-6 pm, Broken Arrow invites you to its beautiful Rose District on Main Street, voted one of the nation’s top 50 Most Charming Main Streets by USA Today. Stop by The Rose Festival welcome booth for a free Rose Bracelet. Activities include Chalk It Up’s amazing chalk art competition and The Rose Festival’s Annual Rose Show. Garden experts will be on hand to answer your questions about roses, pollinators and Monarchs. The Rose Festival & Chalk It Up will combine to create an Art Contest with Art Exhibit in the Arts@302 Gallery. This year’s theme is “The Whimsey of the Garden.” Kids will find lots to do during the weekend festival with a big free KidZone with crafts and kite decoration on Friday evening & Saturday. Inspyral Circus returns with street performers and our very own stilt-walking Rose Prince & Princess. Enjoy their dazzling Glow Show at 8 pm Friday. The shops on Main Street will be open for festival-goers to shop and local artists will be showcasing their wares. Local restaurants and food trucks will be open to satisfy whatever your palate might desire. The Festival concludes Sunday, Oct 1st, 10 am-4 pm, with Rose Kites over Broken Arrow at the BA Event Park 21101 E 101st Street. Free kites to decorate with roses or whatever you like. Tulsa Wind Riders Kite Club will fly their large kites, have a Candy Drop, and demonstrate kite fighting! Also check out the huge Historical Kite Exhibit featuring kites from the 1800’s and World War II.
