Delores Roberts and Janelle Karges of the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce encourage residents to shop locally for the chance to win part of $15,000 in prizes during the Buy Broken Arrow campaign.
The holidays are officially here and we all know what that means: it’s time to do some serious shopping. Because you’ll need to find special gifts for family, friends, coworkers and clients, you’ll probably be logging plenty of hours at area retail stores, shops and restaurants. With the return of the 14th annual Buy Broken Arrow campaign, residents can complete their shopping locally and have the chance to win lots of cash. Building on last year’s success and issuing nearly two and a half million tickets at approximately 100 locations, Buy Broken Arrow is offering $15,000 in total prizes to area shoppers.
The Buy Broken Arrow Christmas campaign is organized by the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce to generate more business for Broken Arrow merchants. Shoppers can purchase items from the city’s stores while supporting the community. As a reward for contributing to the local economy, shoppers will be given tickets to be entered into a drawing for cash prizes. “Each patron who visits a participating merchant in the Buy Broken Arrow Christmas campaign will be given one ticket just for going into the store and one ticket for each $10 purchase,” says Kathy Reynolds, vice president of programs at the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce. A maximum of 100 tickets is allowed per purchase.
The prize drawings will be held December 22 at 3 p.m., and ticket holders do not have to be present to win. “The results will be posted online immediately after the drawing and will be announced on local news stations,” says Reynolds. “The winners have three business days to come forward and claim their prizes.” Visit www.brokenarrowchamber.com. or www.brokenarrowok.gov within minutes after the drawing to see who the lucky winners are.
Don’t throw away your tickets! If the winner does not come forward to claim the cash, drawings will continue through January 28, 2009 until there is a winner.
A few of the dozens of participating Broken Arrow merchants include Walgreens, Baby Emporium, Lowe’s, Moody’s Jewelry, U.S. Cellular, Arrow Flowers & Gifts, Pat’s Hallmark, Reasor’s, Beadles, Keja Vu, Flowers by Sally Ann, and The Gift Garden. Each merchant will have posters on display to identify their participation in this year’s event.
Don’t miss out on the 2008 Buy Broken Arrow Christmas campaign! There is no better place to shop than in your own community. Visit local Broken Arrow merchants from now until December 22 to try your luck while checking off the names on your holiday shopping list. For more information about the event or becoming a participating merchant, call the Broken Arrow Area Chamber of Commerce at (918) 251-1518, or go online to www.brokenarrowchamber.com.
