Rogers County Youth Services is excited to announce their annual fundraiser for 2016. Grab your poodle skirt and hair grease because this year’s fundraiser is all about the fabulous fifties, as it has been given the appropriate name of “2016 Sock Hoppin & Doo-Woppin’”.
This year’s benefit will be in celebration of the RCYS’ 40th year of service to youth and families in the community. The event will be on Saturday, August 20th from 6-10 p.m. at the Claremore Conference Center, located at 1400 W. Country Club Rd. in Claremore, adjacent to the Holiday Inn Express. The evening will be a fun-filled experience including a Fifties band, DJ, burgers,  hot dogs, root beer floats and contests galore.
Think back on the days gone by and try your skill at competing with a hula hoop or the bubble gum blowing contest. There will also be plenty of opportunities to show your prowess on the dancefloor by doing the Twist and the Limbo. Show up in your best era costume for a chance to take the title of top dresser of the night. A live auction willl also be held at 7:30 p.m.
With the upcoming change in format, RCYS is hoping to create a fun and unique experience for the community while continuing to raise money for the support of youth and families of Rogers County. This event will feature exciting auction items such as: a Colorado cabin getaway, golfing at the Patriot, a fishing trip with Dick Faurot, date night for a year, a best friends forever package for 2, dinner for four at Molly’s with Representative Jim Bridenstine, chef’s dinner for 10, Sheriff Scott Walton Barbecue, and other irresistible selections. Be sure to like the Rogers County Youth Services Facebook page to learn about more exciting auction items that will be available.
Various sponsorship opportunities are available for this event. Donors have the choice of being an Elvis Presley sponsor with a donation of $1000 or more all the way down to a Buddy Holly Contributor with a donation as little as $50 to $199.
If you would like ticket information or information on how you can support this year’s event, please call Carolyn at (918) 341-7580 ext. 6. You can also purchase tickets on the www.rcys.org website. RCYS is a member of the Rogers/Mayes Counties United Way.
Believing in the potential of youth, Rogers County Youth Services serves the community by strengthening youth and families. RCYS has an emergency shelter for youth 12-17 years of age, free counseling services provided by licensed and master level counselors, Love and Logic Parenting classes, Family Academy,  and events such as the annual Me and My Guy Dance. All services at RCYS are provided free of charge.
The mission statement of RCYS is “Believing in the potential of youth, Rogers County Youth Services serves the community by strengthening youth and families.” Over 100 children and youth are seen each week in the schools throughout Rogers County for counseling and life skills development groups.
“We are grateful for such a giving community who is willing to invest in the lives of the children, youth and families of Rogers County and the surrounding communities,” said Executive Director Steve Blahut.
