For half a century, Mizel Jewish Day School has been a cornerstone of community, tradition, and educational excellence. To commemorate this remarkable milestone, the school is hosting the Solid Gold Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills.
This special evening promises a blend of luxury hospitality, fine dining, duet-style entertainment, and heartfelt stories that celebrate Mizel’s enduring legacy. With a fundraising goal of $125,000, the event aims to invest directly into enhancing the student experience through modernized classrooms, expanded enrichment programs, and cutting-edge technology.
“This Gala is a way for us to showcase how our school is thriving and regaining that community support,” said Amanda Anderson, Executive Director of Mizel Jewish Day School.
Founded with the mission to provide an exceptional learning environment infused with Jewish values, Mizel Jewish Day School welcomes students from diverse backgrounds. The school emphasizes small class sizes, personalized attention, and a project-based STE(A)M curriculum. “We’re a community-based school, and a lot of our opportunities come from the hands-on involvement of teachers, parents, and friends of the school,” Anderson shared.

Parents like Annina Collier, whose two children attend Mizel, echo this inclusive spirit. “The small class sizes and caring community that surrounds the kids are amazing. The teachers challenge and empower them to grow. My son in pre-K is already reading, and my daughter is thriving academically and personally,” she said.
Collier’s daughter added, “Teachers are really nice, and they make learning really fun!”
Mizel doesn’t just teach academics—it creates meaningful learning experiences. Field trips, guest speakers, and hands-on projects allow students to connect lessons to the real world.
“One of my favorite trips was to the single-room schoolhouse. It was fun to see how school was for kids back then,” shared Collier’s daughter.
Memorable moments like the spontaneous solar eclipse field trip highlight how Mizel’s flexible, community-centered approach makes learning exciting. “I contacted our parents the night before, and we turned the eclipse into a day of learning downtown” Anderson recalled.
The Solid Gold Gala is a meaningful way to invest in Mizel’s future. The funds raised will support three key initiatives:
Guests can expect a mission-based auction, duet performances, with various patron levels and sponsorship opportunities available. Tickets on sale at www.mizelschool.org.
As Mizel looks ahead, it’s also expanding its offerings. Starting February 2025, the school will introduce a 2-year-old program, further nurturing young learners and extending its impact.
Anderson emphasizes Mizel remains a welcoming place for families of all backgrounds. “About 50% of our students and staff are Jewish. Many parents appreciate their children are exposed to Jewish culture and different perspectives. Despite our diversity, our students find common ground with one another,” she explained.
The Solid Gold Gala is not just a celebration of the past—it’s a commitment to the future. “The academic side has been amazing, but the community and caring nature of the school really teach these students to be good humans. We saw that from day one,” said Collier.
