The fourth annual Spring in the Square will take place on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free event celebrates the art of gardening and outdoor spaces with local vendor booths and seminars, where you can purchase items for your garden and get expert advice. Be sure to tour the Utica Square flowerbeds in full bloom, enter to win prizes from Utica Square merchants, take part in a photography contest and more.

While you’re there, you can shop and dine at your favorite locally-owned and nationally-recognized merchants in Utica Square. “This will be a spring day full of fun! Bring out the whole family,” says Property Manager Jessica Barr.

Be sure to bring along your digital camera to Spring in the Square; Utica Square is holding an amateur photography contest. Come and shoot pictures of the event, specifically the flowerbeds and newly planted flowers. Images should capture the spring ambiance at Utica Square.

To enter the photography contest, simply visit  www.UticaSquare.com, go to the Spring in the Square section, and submit your photographs along with the entry form. Each eligible entrant is allowed to enter up to five high-resolution images. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges based on skill, composition, lighting and subjective judgment.

Utica Square houses more than 60 stores and restaurants in a beautiful outdoor setting complete with clock towers, old-time lamp posts, statues and, of course, stunning flowers. For the twenty-first year, they are also hosting Summer’s Fifth Night, a series of free concerts every Thursday evening in the summer from 7 to 9 p.m. This month’s musical guests are Light Opera Oklahoma on May 24 and Bradio’s Beatles Night on May 31.

Be sure to mark your calendars now for a fun, informational day at Spring in the Square, Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Utica Square is located at the southeast corner of 21st and Utica in Tulsa.

Spring in the Square’s 2012 sponsors include: Linnaeus Teaching Gardens, Tulsa Master Gardeners, Southwood Landscape & Nursery, Riddle Plant Farm, Stems, Colebrook Nursery, Ted & Debbie’s Flower & Garden, Tulsa Herb Society, Cohlmia’s, The Garden Trug, Grogg’s Green Barn, Green Country Bonsai Society, and Tulsa Landscape.
